I’ve tried to search but didn’t found what I wanted…I’m debating if I should keep or not the Power Door Lock, Mirrors and Window on the car I’m building.
I wanted to know the weight of both door…I’ve read at some place there almost the same weight…
its not about weight its about convenience. the differences are so small it won’t affect u down the road unless u are making a track car. the weight savings compared to the amount of work (even if just swapping doors isn’t worth it unless u wanna change it just for preference.
so what your saying is, its not really a track car, you just do it on weekends? the interior shouldn’t really matter if its a track car, in which case gut the car, including all window mech.
ok… u’re gonna get a lot of different opinions, like u already have. but like nino said, if its a track car… gut it. if its a dd that u track… just ask urself if u want power or manual windows while you are driving it around for normal use, like getting beer and… more beer. cuz if u want weight savings u better be getting rid of almost everything else that is useless. if u are gonna be picky about 10 or 15 pounds, just involving the doors, but are leaving the back seats, spare tires, jack and all that other easily removeable stuff… then u gotta reconsider what u are doing.
i just started auto-x’ing… and i even just recently put a/c back into the car… weight will only help u if u are willing to take off a good amount. then from there u should be thinking about losing some weight (if u are a bit on the heavy side).
lexan rear hatch and cf hood and cf trunk will be the easiest weight savings, mainly that rear hatch. think about those first b4 u start thinking about the doors. cuz at this point in time… ur car won’t benefit from that lil difference in weight.
Also, if you’re serious about getting rid of weight, ditch the sunroof. There’s a company that makes carbon fiber replacements (pricey) or you could probably weld in a sheet of aluminum or something.
That’s like 35-40 pounds gone from the highest point of the car.
