First off for the past few days my car hasn’t been starting a few times but it will eventually. it will turn over but not a single dash board light even comes on with the key being turned. ill leave it for a few hrs then it will start like nothing is wrong?..Ok now this is weird part, cars been starting fine for the past days but i realized when i press oup or down my power door locks while driving it actually turns off my car, well seems too, cuts out power from my dash board lights. so i pulled over with engine running to test this and it kept doin it like the ignition was hooked up to the power door locks? what could this be?
Old or crappy alarm? Sounds like the ignition switch but the locks messing with the dash lights that is weird. That"s why I ask about an alarm, it would be wired to both.
actually u might be right i do have a old crappy non working alarm that has wires hanging from the knee panel…jus bought the car, love it now need to work out some kinks lol…hopefully its right. Thanks anyone else have this problem tho?
Sometimes no cluster lights and no engine crank, [starter not working] and then will start working is a symptom of a bad ground, [main grounds].
One circuit, [power door locks] having an effect on another unrelated circuit, [engins ign. system] is also a symptom of a grounding issue, and although not related on the power side, [door locks are a 12V+ constant power/engine ign. is a 12V+ switched power] the grounds of all circuits in the car are common.
The very first thing I would do is redo the main grounds, [batt. post and cable clamp, batt. to chassis ground and chassis to engine ground] DO NOT just eyeball the grounds, [disconnect/clean/reconnect] even if the grounds are not your problem, you need to eliminate them as the problem before testing for something else, it also can’t hurt to redo the grounds on a 20 year old car. 94
