i have a 92 ls with a 1st gen b16a swap in it . does anyone know how to clear a code 20 or fix a electronic load detector? or even know where it is located exactly? i heard if i replace the whole underhood fuse box it will solve the problem but i dont wanna make the purchase unless im sure of it . someone please help!

Electronic load detector

Hey, im having the same problem, mostly when vtec kicks in, the check engine light comes on for a code 20 (electronic load detector). I also heard that it is built into the fuse box…and they are not cheap to replace, let me know if you find anything else out, im looking too

me too

i have a 94 gsr swap with injen intake and 21/4 catback exhaust i have same problem code 20 how do i fix it

i have the anwser for all of you gentlemen  - b18c swap into my 93 ls… couldn’t figure out what the damn thing was UNTIL i went to a 98 fuse box, the one under the hood. (so go to your junkyard and find one!!) in that fuse box there is a rather odd piece of “junk” referred to as the ELD.

~~ what it does, if you care to know, is it detects the amount of load that the electronic system is under *on a side note, this is me using my LS harness and splicing wires into it. - also you must make sure that you replace the fuse under your hood for the ECU… it is bigger in the GSR box and its for a reason. make it a 15 or 20. * ok, now when you get the fuse box out the the gsr look at the undercarrige. its a brown pieceabout 3 or 4 incehs long. and has a subsidiary harness attached to it.

i hope i am helping and not confusing the matter even more…

ok, tear that bitch out of there, now its a PAIN IN THE ASS because its not supposed to come out, gonna heave to pry it out. should be like 3 or 4 wires, all you gottta do is splice em into your ECU and you are ALL set.

ok, i really do hope that helped. post up if you need clarification and i will do my best to help everyone out.

you MAY get a code 23 afterwards (i did and still do have it) its for the knock sensor and i haven;t figureed that one out yet…but thats a maybe

good luck everyone!!!

joe

EDIT: as far as finding the fuse box, we had one laying around the shop from my swp so it was free of charge. but to clarify, YES buy the fuse box, and you could just replace it if you wanted, my way was much more difficult and fun

the three wires from the “ELd” wher did they connect/tapd to the ecu what pins??:bang: please help cant seem to figur out the pin and i got the eld from a civic hatch 2003

i would like to know the answer to this as well

Bump, I too need to know where to splice

I’ve only run into this with engine swaps in EF cars. The ELD has 3 wires one for switched 12+, one for Ground (black), and one for the ELD pin at the ECU. Since I’ve not had this problem with the DA, you’ll have to figure it out from there.

Hope that helps.

Here’s my ELD post on crx community if it helps:

just forget the ELD. it is not a big deal! it won’t trigger a cel and your car still runs like its supposed to.

im getting 20 blinks but my car is not swapped its completely stock??? stil the eld???
