Eletrical problems, one thing effecting another

a little history/info.

Took out ABS, everything worked fine. Cleaned up engine bay and ‘hid’ wires, didnt really ‘tuck’ in frame or anything just out of sight. Moved battery to the trunk at the same time. 2ga wire from trunk to dist box to 4ga to starter and fuse box.

Now I dont know if I messed up wiring somewhere after the ABS stuff, or if my battery is causing the problem. Runs drives perfect and NO CELs.

The problem is that one thing is causing power down in another thing.

Lights and blinkers work fine, hazards dont work (probably seperate problem)
if I have my lights on, and turn on fog lights, passenger side lights dim.
if I have my heat/vents/front defrost on, and use wipers, it kills the vent fan, or at least slows it WAY down.
Sometimes when I use wipers and lights on, the wipers are really slow, enough to not have enough power and get stuck mid wipe.

I have an optima red top battery if that matters, it almost seems like I’m maybe not getting enough power to run more than one thing? but the fact that my lights dim only on one side doesnt seem right.

as for the hazards my blinkers work fine at all corners. If I push the hazard button it doesnt click and nothing happens.

Thanks for taking time to read and help me figure this out!

My guess is it is a grounding problem, when one circuit has an effect on another circuit, [wipers/blower motor, fog/head lights or head lights/wipers] it is almost always a grounding issue.

I would get rid of the distribution block, run the 2ga directly to the starter motor and daisy chain an 8ga from the starter motor to the engine bay fuse box.

Your hazard light problem may be a fuse, [engine bay fuse box] or the switch itself, [common problem on a G2] pull the switch and test for power on the white/green lead, if there is power, replace the switch, if no power, check fuse or connections from fuse to hazard switch.

Where and how is your batt. grounded?
What type and size of fuse is on the 2ga running from the batt. to the engine bay?
What year and model is your G2?:corn:94

Its a 93 LS stock b18b (jdm longblock)

battery is grounded using same 2ga wire to the nut that holds down the spare tire (no tire in there)

I have a 100amp circuit breaker between the batt and engine bay.

The fuse in the engine bay for the hazards is good, i replaced it with a new one to be sure. Is there another fuse inside? or on the switch itself? I’ll have to check if theres power to the switch or not.

The spare tire hold down is not the best ground, move it to one of the bolts that go through the frame rail to hold the rear bumper in place, [should be 2 bolts on each side], pass. side would be preferable.
Run a 2ga from the stock chassis ground, [under batt. “box”] to the engine/transaxle, [stock chassis to engine ground points].

Replace the 100A breaker with a 200A-225A breaker, or better yet a 200A-225A ANL fuse, [the current capacity of 2ga power cable is 225A].

There is no other fuse for the hazard lights, the next step would be to pull the hazard switch and test for power on the white/green lead, we know everything after the hazard
switch is good, including the hazard switch main output, green/white, we know this because the signal lights work.

Try this, turn on the hazard lights, [leave hazard switch on] then try the signal lights, if they work the problem is the hazard switch, [left/right connector] green/yellow and green/blue are the outputs and green/red is the input.:whisper:94

Hey, thanks a lot for your help. I’ll see what I can do with that info. I appreciate it:rockon:

So I made a little progress! Turns out the little white box that has ALL the grounds from different things in the engine bay, wasnt grounding out very good. So I relocated that to a better, bare metal place and now all the previous stated problems are done.

The hazards still dont work. Tried turning the switch on and then using the signals, and nothing happens. if I have a signal going and pop on the hazard switch it stops the blinking signal.

Now I’m not really worried about it, except if they are required to work for inspection (which is due) anyone know about that? or what else to try?

The problem is the switch, replace it.
Pull it and test for power on the white/green lead first. :whisper:94

Will do. Thanks for your help, you da man:werd:

Sorry to bump this, but I have the exact same problem. Where is the “little white box” you’re talking about? I have troubles finding it

Thanks!
