Energy suspension bushing kits

I got the kit awhile back, but was waiting to go back home to install them (in college) Well I only changed the front so far and man what a difference these urethane bushings do to the car. My stock rubber ones were pretty shot (the rubber was saggin towards the bottom). But the car is very responsive and hugs the ground more. I can’t wait till I do the rear. That will definately make a bigger difference. Then after I’m done on to the ST sway bars!!

Energy suspension bushing kits

Has anyone used the energy suspension full bushing kit? I have the shift stabilizer and the motor mount insert kits, but I think I need to start replacing some bushings in the front end of my car. I am just wondering if it comes with any instructions or if you are left on your own… feedback please…

I got the front end kit for my 91 teg there are no instructions included but if you have a repair manual it will tell you how to remove whatever you need to replace, one tool you definately need is a ball-joint remover i spent 30 mins trying to pry it off without one then picked one up and got it right off.Another thing when you remove the boots do not damage the lock clips because you cant even get those at the dealer. But the energy bushings work real well you notice the difference in handling immediately:evil:

Are they labeled for what they are for? I would hate to get a load of bushings that I have no idea where to put.

i just got the front end kit and the store i got em from have them labeled for what the application is,the ball joints camew/4 in the pack the bigger ones go on the bottom and the smaller ones go on top so basically if they dont fit right you know you are putting them on wrong.make sure you have some grease too to repack the bushings just wipe the excess away.

Advice on energy suspension bushings set

I’m looking for a set for car but I need something that doesnt make my car stiff. So what is the best kit to get and where can I find the cheapest?

Thanks a lot

I have the Energy Suspension kit on my car, and it sure tightened things up. It’s pretty harsh sometimes, but with the right dampers, I think it would be incredible.

I have the
Prothane ones, and it will take the “slop” out of your car’s handling for sure. i believe summit has the right prices for that stuff. but be prepared to pay up the A$$ for install, its not an easy task AT ALL.

How much is install on a set of bushings?

If you have the right tools to do the install, you can do it. Don’t pay someone else to do it. I think the install has been talked about on the board. Gotta search for it.

I heard prothance ones were really stiff than others. Is that true?

I have the energy suspension bushings but only in front as of right now. It really doesn’t make the car stiff IMO. It made my car handle smoother and it made the suspension a little bit more quiet. I can’t wait to get the rears in. HTH.

Yeah, I did mine in stages too, and after the first ones I noticed it got quieter and just seemed a BIT more responsive, but when I put the rears in, it was a HUGE difference. I was quite shocked… far stiffer and noticeably more responsive. I’ve heard some guys replace the rear bushings with OEM ones, and just use the ES bushings in the rest of the car. But maybe that just applies to places like here, cuz they turn to rock in the winter. heh

the instal isnt that hard as long as you can:
A.) Get the car a couple feet off the ground, and
B.) Have either a hydrolic press (ie piston press) or an air chisle

You need those to push out the old bushing including the outer metal ring.

I just got the master kit, and have it half installed… and my kit came with basic instructions. also it comes with a part list saying a number for each piece, and the matching number is engraved on the bushing itself. Ive never done any suspension work before this weekend, and i knew where everything went. the other thing you need (other than the ball join separater) is either a hydrolic press, or an air chissle to fully remove the old bushings. Its pretty easy to get out the inner metal, and the rubber… but the outer metal ring is fused to the control arms they are in. The other thing you could use is a cutting torch

OEM for whatever car you have. Otherwise your car will be stiffer.
