Energy Suspension Urethan Trailing Arm Bushings Installation?

I purchased these awhile ago and decided to finally look at putting them in. What I noticed is their just the outer bushings. They don’t have the metal bracket in the center. I’m guess I have to cut the metal bracket out and use it on the inside of the urethane bushings?

Anyone used these b4? I’m lost.

You need to reuse your old hardware for them. I just ordered my set and will be doing the same thing.

I just installed mine last summer and you have to use ur factory center bracket and the factory outer sleeve. Tip: Try to save enough factory rubber on the center bracket to have a good tight fit on the ES bushing. I cut the rubber out around the outer sleeve and dremel grinded it clean. The ES bushings where an extremely tight fit into the trailing arm too. It took a while to get them to press in straight. I made a tool out of 2 flat metal plates with holes in the center and long bolt going all the way through and squeezed them in. Good Luck

Actually, I’m not so sure you want to save rubber on the center pin… Mine was already a good tight fit, and having rubber there will will prevent the pin from rotating.

Good advice on the homemade tool, I did something similar with two pieces of flat aluminum and a long bolt.

Good tip to quickly get rid of the rubber bits after cutting:
Take a propane torch (or acetylene) and burn a thin layer of the rubber. You’ll know when the rubber is ready when it turns darker and becomes dry. Take a course metal file and file the dark rubber (I used a semi-round body work file). The file will chew through the dried rubber FAST. Repeat the process. Don’t try to burn through too much at once. Its more efficient to burn a thin layer and file it off before burning some more.

And dont use petrolium base oils to lub the bushings since they make the bushings swell.

there is a big thread on this ===>[search]

Here, just made my DIY on this. http://forums.g2ic.com/showthread.php?208034-DIY-Energy-susp-Trailing-arm-bushing-inst

Invalid $idname specified…

I just tried the link that you posted and here is the error that popped up…

Yeah the mods deleted it cause there’s already a thread made for it.http://forums.g2ic.com/showthread.php?192471-Replacing-RTA-Bushings-Using-Energy-Suspension&highlight=Energy+Suspension

Thanks a lot
