Engine Compression Test

Hello everybody.
A couple of days ago I was trying to check my compression and someone told me that I had to disconnect some ignition coil or something, in any case I didnt know what to disconnect exactly. Could someone please explaine to me how to do this procedure and what and where I have to disconnect.

The second part of the problem is that I got no clue what my compression should be. If someone could please post some numbers that I could relate to.
I have a 90 Integra with CAI and exaust, everything else pretty much stock. Thanks.

hmmmm…dunno why you would have to disconnect the coil…all the spark plug wires will be pulled…

compression numbers depend on how many miles are on the motor…and it’s more important that the numbers be close to equal to each other…a leak down test will tell you more about the health of the motor than a compression

good luck

When it comes to compression tests, the main thing that you have to worry about is disabling the fuel relay fuse from the fuse panel. This will disable the injectors from pumping gas in the cylinder.

For 90-93 Integras with the stock B18A1, normal compression readings should be at 184psi. The minimum compression reading is at 150psi…meaning if your reading is below that, you should have your engine overhauled.
