okay, so ive had this question since i got my da. what are signs that you can use to tell how many miles are on the motor? my gauge cluster isnt original and it reads 236k and i know the motor is out of a 91 and my car is a 90 so does anyone have some good ideas? timing belt still looks okay. smokes at top of first gear at high rpms into 2nd. thats it.
There’s no way on telling without pulling the block apart,but even then you can’t tell. You could try pulling the block plate numbers and see if you could somehow look it up threw DMV like you do with the Vin# with carfax. IDK about your DMV but Cali,you have to put the miles on the pink every time you sell.
taking it apart will only tell you how worn the motor is, if its been maintained properly, it should look almost new, aside from carbon build up and oil sludge residue (if there is any).
