Engine problem after washing it...(?)

Hey, I got some of that engine degreaser stuff to clean my engine as it was filthy. I drove it alot this morning, but after I drove it, I let it cool down for about 2-3 hours. When I got in the car to check the temp guage (after letting it sit for a while), I started it and the temp guage didn’t budge… Everything was ok from here… so I lifted up the hood and sprayed away to clean out all the crap that was on the engine. (I did make sure I didn’t directly spray the distributor). I sprayed off the enire engine, taking note again not to spray the distributor. I started the car after rinsing off the engine and noticed a belt squeek right when the engine was starting. The squeek lasted about 1-2 seconds and I haven’t heard it again. I went back inside and went to sleep. I slept quite well [just fyi :)] for about 2 hours, then I went out to start her up and drive around.
I got in, started her up, and she started fine. I went into first gear, and everything was fine. When I went into second (the gear cought when the engine was at 1750 rpm) it was hesitant to go. I could gradually gas it and it would go, but I couldn’t floor it. When I did floor it, it would act like it was out of gas. It was like this through all gears, even reverse. The problem only occurs between 1000 rpm and 3250 rpm. After that, everything is fine. Any comments??
If I got water on/in the distributor, would it do this?
Could it be becaue I got the spark plug wires/covers wet?
Thanks alot! -Sam

I had that same problem with my teg after having the engine bay pressure washed. What it turned out to be was the spark plug holes where filled with water. I sucked out most of the water then just let it idle till it got hot enought to evaporate the rest. even tho the spark plug boots look like they would seal around the holes they will still let water go thru it. So check it out and see if its the cause.

ok, I will try that tomorrow… until then, does anyone else have a suggestion? Thx…

Yep, there is water in your spark plug holes. That happens every time you wash your engine. Just use a compressor if you have one to blow all the water out of there. Works every time…

Hey, I got everything fixed… it turned out I had about an inch of water in each of the holes. Thx for the help…

actually the cover DOES stop the problem, lol. i guess if u sprayed enough water around that it’d seep through, but i had no problems after washing my engine. hehe
