I am thinking about putting a newer engine in my car, but I don’t have the money for a vtec engine. I have been looking for a late 90’s ls engine, and was wondering if that one would swap straight into my car without any complications. Also, where would be the best place to look for one with low miles.
Yeah, that will swap right into your teg, but you will need to keep some of your stuff off of your original engine like your distributor, injectors and transmission. Other than that, it bolts right in. All that you should need is a longblock (just the head and block).
Check around at the junkyards for one, you should be able to find one for a decent price. I suggest you get a hold of Ryan Galford at U-Fix-It Honda in Tacoma. He is a member of G2IC and hooks everyone up when he can. I think his board name is U-FIX-IT HONDA or something like that.
If you need someone to do the swap for you then you should talk to me. I work on honda’s on the side and dont rape people like shops do.

u could also scrounge around for the b20b… $760 from hmotorsonline.com right now. me and some other members have had great success with the blocks. straightforward swap, no hassles.
pbraile: What year is your integ? I just put in a 97 LS engine, and it runs great. Good acceleration and decent torque. Here is a list of things I kept from my 90 integ.
Stock exhaust manifold, tranny, throttle body, distributor, injectors.
I bought the 97 engine for 800. I also bought a 94 intake manifold ( I would suggest getting this because from what I have heard, the extra 10 HP (compared to a B18A from a 1990 integ) from the 94+ integs comes from the better flowing head, agressive cams, and better flowing intake manifold) for $50. While you have the engine out, its a good time to replace the stock clutch with a new one (I bought a clutch specialties stage 1 clutch for 250) and I would also recommend lightening your flywheel (engine will rev a lot faster). The B20B engine is very good too. Sometimes I wish I got that engine instead because it has more torque, which is what I need since I’ll be taking my car to the mountains a lot. Good luck.
Whats the HP rating on the B20? i never knew they were under $1000, how much was labor on yours?? my 93 LS only has 103,000 so im not replacing it yet since its wrecked and not gettin driving right n ow anyways. just hit back with the specs.

the newer jdm b20b’s have the same specs as the b20z. but I’ve never gotten a positive number anywhere…
I didnt get the B20B engine. I got the B18B engine installed because I wanted more horsepower. Although its not much more, its still a nice engine. I only paid 250 for labor (friend installed it for me. He would have done it for a lot cheaper, but I wanted to give him more) I think labor can cost you anywhere from 500-700, but i’m not sure on that. Just check around. And definitely get the motor from hmotorsonline.com for the B20B. Its really cheap and the engine pulls hard. The torque is fun to play with.
