Engine Swap

Hey, I currently have a db1 and I’m wondering if going from my b18a1 to a b16 would be a good choice? I know that I’m losing some torque, but I’m also gaining HP and VTEC. This car is not a track car, I would just like something pretty cool as a daily driver. So my question is… even though there is some loss in going the b16 route… will I be dissapointed?

I’m sorry if this has been covered, I searched and I pretty much saw people wanting to know how to do the swap. Once again, sorry if this has been posted before. If you can link me, I will read. Thanks.

I don’t know if this has any revelance but I just drove the 2008 fit and I had a blast LOL! Automatic as well.

Thanks a bunch!

Looks like I should go with GS-R swap. Got estimated 3600 installed. And 2500 for a b16a. Money is an issue but I don’t want to regret it.

Go for the GS-R, I regret getting the b16.

b16 is fine! you guys must just wanna go fast straight.

id save up a little longer and go with the gs-r.

for a dd the b16 is weak my old b20 used to spank b16 either save for the gsr or
just get a b20 put some cams in it tune and call it day

My b17a spanks a b20 on the freeway, dependant on me being in the lower gear. B16a should be fine as long as you have good clutch and tranny awareness. More displacement is for stomp and go kind of power, but smaller displacement is a more rewarding experience.

I personally wouldn’t get the B16…

There Is NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT!

they way i see it. as I have stated previously Only reason people go with B16’s is because they can’t afford a Gsr.

I have driven several B16 motored cars and to be quite honest, I only feel a marginal bump in engine response and power in comparison to the B18C. The only time I noticed a huge difference is on the freeway when I was able to bring the motor to its full top end potential.

So, save up for the GS-R or buy the B16 swap and then later build it up to spec. Either way, you’ll enjoy it.

or just get a b16 head and do an ls/vtec. that what i did i. Also you can put in a set of p30 pistons and go 12:1 compression. makes for a fun DD.

2x

and i own a b16a2 swapped Teg. don’t get me wrong, i don’t regret it but if i had to do it al over again…

LS/vtec all the way.

I have a B16A in my integra and was happy with it until I swapped a B18C1 (poor man’s ITR) into my CRX. Now I know what I was missing. One thing that I do regret about the B16A swap into the Integra was I used too light of a flywheel (clutch Masters 7.5 lb.). Way too light for a daily driver. In the CRX I used an Ededy 10 lb. flywheel. BTW I also did LS 5th swaps & LSD installs on both of the trannys (Y1).

“Displacement is the replacement for technology”

Anyways I had a B16 and i wasnt impressed. This time I am going to start with a b20 and build up… Although a b16 is a great beginer Vtec in my opinion (easy swap, and you get your foot in the vtec door) But then youll want more…

hey 2ndjenn how hard was to do the ls 5th in y1and how does it drive? i have the same tranny and was wondering if its real difficultand worth it!:werd:

sorry for the offtopic folks but how did that manifest itself? i’m curious.

i think you guys just over exaggerate by saying a b16 sucks, it really doesn’t, what do you guys use your car far? mostly “freeway runs”, “mad burnouts” “racing other hondas with b18c’s”, i don’t know my experience is that a b16a is way more than enough fun for a DA integra, especially in mountain driving, but for autox and circuit i’m not sure yet because i haven’t done that yet, but i’m sure it’s just as fun
