Ok, so I noticed a few g3 tegs and civics with an engine torque damper or “stiffy” as called by ingalls. Has anyone attempted to put one on a G2? The way it connects to a civic and a g3 looks as if it could work on a G2. anyone…anyone? The pics below are from a Civic.
ya i saw that awhile back and thought about it. it looks like it will bolt in the same way.if it doesnt tho. atlest 95% of the work is done for you…i think at most tho. the plate that mounts to the shock tower. might have to have a new one made that is long enough.
Hmmmm, i’m thinking about being bold and actually buying a setup for a g3…
That looks great it has to be custom.
I believe the damper itself is an off the shelf part but the bracket and the triangulation bar were both fabricated.
Thanks for the info, BTW I love your photos >>> I might be doing this myself, if not i think all of g2ic should bitch and moan to ingalls and have them make a kit for our cars.
Unfortunately the DA has long been the bastard child of product development. It might not be the most applicable chassis in the lineup, but there’s definately a market there for quality performance parts. The sad thing is, most common enthusiasts today aren’t willing to spend the money on parts that are more expensive due to engineering and development costs, so most companies won’t spend the money since they won’t be making enough profit to make it worth their while. Basic economics says, if there is no demand, there will be no supply. Demand is for cheap ebay knockoff parts, not for quality performance parts… hence what is commonly available for the DA and what isn’t.
I like your reply, and i’m sad that I have to agree.
agree to. but what really gets me is, isnt the da the car that really kinda started the whole important thing ? i mean they make so much for a 88 to 91 civic, and those look ass even in stock trim. and i never really ever see a hooked up 88 to 91 civc. but every time i see a da it has soemthing done to it. i think companys dont realize that the da does have astrong following of people who want parts…
I agree with that as well, I think there’s a huge market of DA owners who want parts… as big, if not bigger, than the out-of-their-mind EF weirdos (trust me, they’re just weird. Take my word for it). BUT, the problem is, how many DA owners want parts AND are willing to pay top dollar for well engineered products? THAT market is very small, and companies know this. Not saying the EF or any other group of Honda enthusiasts are any more willing to spend money, but it just comes down to the fact that almost everyone with a DA wants forged wheels and quality made parts, but ends up buying parts of lesser quality because they don’t want to spend the money. Companies aren’t going to produce products for a ghost market. It sucks, and I don’t agree with it, but many years of bitching about it to myself has made me understand it.
hey digital, who did your triangular bars and tower bars set up? im interested in purchasing if you can get another one produced? let me know thanks!
i’m really interested in getting one but i know they dont make it for our cars, i also saw they make a universal one but i’m just curious if anyone has done it without that triangular bar and with stock b18
I’ve seen one that bolt up to the shock bolts.
I’m thinkin’ about getting one, because it feels like my rear mount is shot.
do keep in mind guys that these engine dampers are NOT replacements for motor mounts. replace your mounts, these dampers are just for a little extra.
yes sad but true. i personally would much rather fabricate than go buy some b/s off ebay. ive seen people take that route, and nothing good ever comes of it.
i have had two 88 crx’s. one was an autocross car, the other my daily driver, they are good cars as long as you do it right. just like anything else though. personally now that i have my da, i will probably never go back lol
My Engine Torque Damper
^^ that looks proper. nicely done
what engine torque damper is that? and i am assuming you had to fab up a bracket?
