Erratic idle after auto-5spd conversion

oh, well, I’ll keep what I have due to I don’t want to waste great oil.

Idle issue is geting worse, The more I drive it, the more it seems like a bad 02 sensor, but Mine is almost new (15k).

Have you tried another 5-speed ECU?

No, I have nbot

I have a problem with people who don’t do the obvious fixes, especially when someone who has gone though the process tells you what the problem is.

I have tried the Automatic ECU, I Have the 5spd ecu in now. It acts exactly the same with the 2 ECUs. I have not tried a different 5spd ECU.

I had a problem with surging idle. Have you tried adjusting your FITV?

I am going to do this this weekend. Thanks, why didn’t I think of this?

I dunno

Mine idled perfectly after I got the 5-speed ECU in. A week later it started surging. That’s when I adjusted the FITV. It’s been running fine since.

I noticed in another thread that you got the 90-91 engine mount. Did it fix your alignment problem?

you mean the 92-93 Mount, yea, I got it and put it in. I also shimmed the mount. I love it, It’s a new car . I still gota get my LCA bolt done. I am doing it tonight if I can get it out.

i have that same surging problem right know. i have replaced the pcv valve, o2 sensor and checked the timing and all the possible vacuum hoses for leaks. still surges, what is the FITV? thanks, harry. i have a 90 ls.

Fast Idle air valve or something like that. Does your’s surge before or after it’s warm?

always!

FITV = Fast Idle Thermal Valve.

Search and you will find the solution.

Sorry to hijack but I forgot who made that solution up is a god. Fixed my surging problem.

Ben Ogle did the Idle trouble shoot, and oz did the IAVC write-up. Have visted both many a times!
