erratic idle is a direct effect of aggressive cams aint it. not sure to what degree but i put in 95 b18b cams and im getting the same thing. must be something else… you can try adjusting the idle speed, and checking for vacuum leaks…
erratic idle from race cams…
when I swapped some regrind street cams into my teg, the diff in power was definately noticeable…but it wont hold a steady idle until about 10 minutes after start, until its warm, and even then the idle is very low, and can fluxuate. What are possible solutions to this problem ??? Would an AFC fix this ? I really dont like the trade off for power.
wow some wierd time warp here
haha er ya ok

That’s strange… I have Crower 403s (not regrinds) and they Idle similar to stock with very good gains through the powerband. When I had them installed, however, the car used to have a VERY lumpy idle; turned out one of the spark plug caps wasn’t making a good connection. Check that!
Good luck
hmmm…yeah, I have heard the crowers do not affect the idle much…anyone else ?
Those cams should idle perfectly. Did you install them or did you pay someone? I’m guessing you did it yourself cause if you paid someone I would just take it back and make them fix it. Anyway, have you checked your timing? When I changed cams the first time, my timeing was WAY off, like 20 degrees or something rediculous like that. I couldn’t turn the dirstibuter far enough to correct it. For those of you have put a timing belt on, you know there is more than one line on the crank pully, and I accidently lined it all up (cams and crank pully) on the wrong line thus causeing a huge loss in power and a loud ass car. Anyway, if you installed these yourself, I would double/tripple. I doubt it’s a vacuum leak or anything if you changed the cams and immediatly after you had this problem. Why would changing cams out effect your vacuum or anything like that?
it might be that your car needs to get used to them. My car didn’t like my cams at first, but after about a week of everyday driving, it idled perfectly.
Our cars needs to get used to things…just like my ecu; everytime I reset my computer, I need to drive it for like a few days before it idles normally; otherwise it’ll idle high, and also it will sometimes want to stall.
they have a mind of their own. theyre possessed
how much lift and duration is the cam? unless the cam is too much for the car.
like E-DA9 said, it probably needs a little time for the car to relearn itself.
