ESP 3 Point Front Upper Strut Bar Group Buy

Hello all, I am organizing a group buy of 3 point upper front strut bars from ESP (Explicit Speed Performance). John currently doesn’t offer these bars for our chassis but said he is willing to do a small production run (8 to be exact) if enough committed people are interested. He is currently producing a run of bars for another chassis so it will be 4 weeks before he’s ready to start accepting payment and producing our batch. From the time of payment he will need 8-10 weeks to produce the bars and fulfill the orders.

Unlike the PasswordJDM bars (which are currently the only 3 point bars offered for our chassis) these will be heavy duty/functional bars. They will be made of 3/16" steel, TIG welded, and powdercoated for a durable finish. They will attach to both upper strut towers and also at a 3rd existing location on the firewall. John has many years of experience in the industry and is know for producing quality parts.

This may be our only chance to own one of these bars so if you’re interested don’t miss out!

Price will be $265 shipped to the US per bar ($25 extra to Canada). They will come with the standard black powdercoating and your choice of sticker color at that price. Custom color powdercoating is available for $10 extra.

If you are interested and willing to commit to the terms he will need for the group buy contact me via this thread or email and I will get you added to the list. michaelessila@gmail.com
If you would prefer to contact John directly you can reach him via email @ ExplicitSpeedP@aol.com

Neil has given his permission for me to use this site as one source of organization for this group buy

What makes this better than a PasswordJDM bar, other than being significantly heavier and $30+ more? Not knocking it, just want more information to base my purchase on.

I rather have them make a c-pillar bar

Explicit speed is a good company I have a few of there products… Can vouch for them I hear it takes them a while to get back to people and ship products but everything is hand made so I can understand that part

What are the terms to agree by I don’t wanna pay upfront but I am willing to get one

I own a passwordjdm bar and am not impressed with the quality of it at all. The aluminum they use is just too soft and weak to effectively resist any amount of deflection that it is meant to endure. Even bolting it down caused the area between the bolting points to deflect and it bent up away from the chassis. It cracked/tore at the welds on both sides from minimal usage. The ESP bar will be made of steel and will be much stronger. It will be heavier, yes. So whether the added weight is worth it to you is going to be a personal decision but it will be a strong and FUNCTIONAL brace compared to the password bar.

Yeah ESP builds quality parts. I own their traction bar too and build quality is very impressive compared to the others I’ve owned or seen in person. I recently saw a picture of an ESP traction bar that was removed from an EF that hit a wall at 65 mph and it was relatively undamaged. The main bar was bent but the welds were 100% unbroken and the small amount that it had bent was shocking.

Payment will be required in full before production takes place. Production will take 8-10 weeks so you’d have to expect to be willing to allow that amount of time. These pieces would be 100% fabricated from scratch and would take some time to produce.

Is there a better photo of the bar? I can create a Facebook post that’d probably get better traffic. I went to the website and all the photos are weird like that with the MS-Paint cutouts.

ill be down for a seatbelt harness bar for Da.

I agree with the above post haha

Unfortunately I don’t have a better picture of the bar. That’s the only one he sent me and I believe is a picture of his 3 point for a different chassis. During our conversation he expressed concern about fitment on the DA chassis and said he hadn’t been able to make one work in the past without complications with the sensor on top of the intake manifold on 90-91 models and the ABS system. As far as I know he never produced a 3 point bar for our chassis. Since I have the password bar in my possession I volunteered to send it to him while he produced them so he had a guideline for what clearance was necessary and aid in addressing the fitment issue.

It looks like nobody is seriously interested though so production will likely never take place.

I actually sent them an email some time ago when hunting for one. I came across their website, but the @aol.com email never netted a response. There’s mention of a DA bar on this page, but it is what it is: explicitspeedperformance.net

I want one but $350 cdn is just too steep for me right now when the car needs other attention first.

Yeah he wasn’t producing any parts for quite a while (years) and even now isn’t producing as much as he used to. From what I have gathered he’s only doing a few select group buys now. I think it’s only what he has time to work on as side work.

Yea from what I know he used to do that business with his family and they had a passing of a member and basicly slowed production down I emailed the guy back and forth multiple times in the pat a few years ago lol but they are legit don’t belive the impatient people who are used to eBay quality parts the same week shipping lol or other know as cheap ass fake parts lol

do u think this will fit on a kswap da with k tuned ram headers

I can’t say for sure but since the valve cover sits farther forward on K swaps don’t you have more clearance than B series? I would think it would work but cant guarantee it.

Btw, whats up with your build? No updates for a while?

my build is on stand by but not give up yet

Glad to hear you still have it!

Is this group buy still happening?

Hello guys and gals, yes this is still going on. Would like to get 8 going on the small Group Buy. This is John - Explicit Speed Performance

Front Bar should clear a K series since EF is similar chassis and it does there. However can’t guarantee since never tried. DA has tiny bit more room engine bay wise.

this will not clear ABS cars correct?
