After searching I seem to be narrowing my choice down to these 2…which has near stock pedal pressure?
I would like something in the ballpark of a centerforce DF in terms of holding power…

i have the act extreme plate with street disc and aasco 7.5lb flywheel and i love it man!
oh, and how much in terms of price?
act all the way
my r6 rips **** up, I love it.
if you have a warantee issue with exedy, you have to wait a LONG time cuz you gotta deal with the peepz in japan. ACT max, all the way and what are u talking about “stock pedal feel”, u don’t want that sissy crap! ![]()
come on max is a little guy, he dont wanna work out in his car ![]()
the act is pretty stiff…next time i see you max you can feel mine unless you already have a new clutch…
i paid $450 us for my clutch but i now can get them between $350-400us
I remember a discussion on honda-tech about the exedy, their pressure plates are new material, not rebuilt like ACT. The actual clutch as also new material, not originals w/ new surface.
GREAT prices, GREAT service, I don’t mean to advertise, but from the posts I’ve seen from Mike, hes got customer service down to an art. Free shipping too
HTH man.

i’m pretty sure that www.clutchcityonline.com has better prices. I picked my exedy up for $269.50 shipped. Came with pressure plate, disk, both bearings, alignment tool, and even a free t-shirt! I chose the exedy because of price. I didn’t have $$ for an expensive clutch (i wanted the CM III or CF DF). And didn’t want to settle for a stock one.
max, i’m sure you’ll be happy with either clutch. You’re looking at many options though. If you go exedy you choose between the organic disc, or the cerametallic 3 puck. If you go with the ACT you’ve got 2 pressure plates and 3 different disks to choose from. So you can sorta mix and match what will work best for you. I don’t know if it means anything to you, but… the exedy clutch is the exact same clutch sold by toda. The only difference is that when you buy from toda you get the clutch and flywheel as a package and they are balanced to eachother perfectly. Other than the balancing to the flywheel they are the same.
I sort of get the impression also that the ACT is a little more drag oriented whereas the exedy may be a little more road racing oriented. Not sure exactly how true that is though.
Mike’s prices are lower than clutchcityonlines, he just dropped them to compete w/ them. Only thing Mike can’t give you is the alignment tool ![]()

do some more looking around at all the clutches. This is the hardest thing i’ve ever looked for. I’d go to one board and talk to people and they’d say they have had horrible luck with ACT and only use clutchmasters now. Go somewhere else and i hear that CM is horrible and that they only use exedy. Talk to someone else and they’ll say that centerforce is the only decent clutch. I did research on clutches for about a month or 2 straight and couldn’t get any hard evidence that would lead me to believe that any of the companies are bad. You just end up talking to the people who had a bad experience once, who knows it may have even been installation that was done poorly, or they bought the wrong stage clutch for their setup—it breaks and then they go to another brand and have better luck. All of a sudden the first brand they used becomes something they will no longer recommend.
Personally i think that all the clutches out there are going to be pretty much the same. They are all great quality, and you hear LOTS of good reviews about all 4 brands. thats why i finally decided to base my decision on price.

yeah, looks like he did change his prices. cause i know before he had exedy up on groupbuycenter.com and they were WAY overpriced. $265 at cox vs $269 at clutchcity. Personally the alignment tool and free tshirt are enough to sway my business toward clutchcity…if you don’t have an alignment tool its definitely worth the extra $4. or are they cheaper at an autoparts store? i’ve never priced them out.
clutch alignment tool…can’t be more than like $5, they are plastic for gods sake
hehe But your in good hands w/ Mike, when I get my clutch, I’m definitely going to him.

wtf is that $hit for?
everyone around here (nc) is running the 6 puck or full disc (which feels alot better) clutch masters stage III and you can get one for like 389 straight from the company.
