Exedy OEM Clutch and Fidanza 7.5 lbs Flywheel Setup

Is anyone running this setup? How does it pull out and shift?

If anyone has the exedy oem clutch, does it clamp harder than stock? Can you feel the difference?

Any info on theses two products will be appreciated if no one has this particular setup.

I need a new clutch fast and I am going to replace the flywheel while I’m at it.

Im not sure what the difference is but i have the exedy stage 1 clutch and exedy light wieght fly wheel , total weight is 19.7 puonds for the whol setup. Clutch plate , pressure plate , flywheel , pilot bearing and throw out bearing . It grips really good and strong (so good ive stalled 3 times when i first put it in) I have 18’s so it was a surprise to see actual smoking tires when i took off. I have a Ys1 with lsd so i have such a hard take off , but i gotta say it drives really strong and it was a noticable difference.

I’ve dealt with the stage 1 and it’s nice but I wanted to know if anyone has experience with the exedy oem clutch. Thanks though.

I had a stage 1 on my crx with 18 in rims at 40 pounds each and I could peel in second, sometimes third.

the exedy oem is just an oem clutch with a diff name stamped on it more or less. why not just go for the stage 1. (my friend cleanestwhiteda on here has this setup).

aye FUCK That flywheel… ive only had it for about 6 months now… driven for about 3 months… and that piece of shit is grinding with my starter… motherfucker… im runnin an exedy organic…

FUCK THAT FLYWHEEL go OEM iTR

all flywheels will sit in the exact same spot. grinding on the starter has to be an installation error. cleanestwhiteda has the exact setup hes describing and his starter is fine.

so youre telling me the first 6 months is fine… and all of a sudden the shit starts acting up??

i thought it was premature wear

Was this an installation issue or is the Fidanza flywheel a piece of sh!t?

fidanza has been making flywheels for years and are considered one of the BEST. how hard were u driving it? i seriously doubt it was premature wear, if so id call fidanza and complain. otherwise it was user abuse or installation error.

I have the OEM Exedy, I just had it installed and I am taking it easy. First impressions is that is grabs very good, foot pedal is alot easier/softer for everyday driving. Can I feel a difference, yes car has over 230 km and feels new.( knock on wood )

right now the car is my daily driver not sure how long itll be in commission… but when this weekend comes ill diagnose the problem…

I have the exedy stage 1 clutch kit with the exedy lightened flywheel (9.5 lbs). It grips real hard and very responsive, but pricey.

pretty cheap compared to most setups (specially if you do the work yourself).

lowkey, is it the same as a factory clutch or does it have more grip?

I think it is the same since its an OEM replacement…My old clutch was pretty worn, it’s a definite improvement. I am satisifed 110%.

i have an exedy organic and the fidanza and all i can say is kick ass! after i switched it all out i noticed that first pulled a lot harder, pretty much a lot more fun. rev matching with that flywheel is a bit easier too.

update on the flywheel noise… well at first i correlated the same noise to the noise typical of that when you break a few teeth off a flywheel and install it… it makes that nasty grinding sound as you turn the motor over…

well my starter is fine… i hope my flywheel is still fine…

i started with the basics… and figured my alarm guy left a bad connection from the main fuse box… the screw was completely out and the only thing holding the wire to the box was the fuse box lid itself… essentially the starter was not getting enough power… and the solenoid did not engage the flywheel completely allowing it to turn only halfway though its position…

so… yes i am an idiot for underestimating fidanza… although i have read it only lasts about 2 yrs…

its got a replaceable friction surface that is made of a material that does wear down faster but with proper use should last longer than 2 years. if ur gettin a grinding/rattling it might be that u snapped a clutch spring.

I would not get such a light flywheel with an OEM clutch.

I would recommend the Exedy Organic clutch and a Pro Street 12lb Chromoly flywheel.
