I have a bad exhaust leak but I’m not sure where ! I have a DC header and my car came with a ebay catback. There is no leaks when setting idle but when I drive I have to keep the windows up cause of the fumes. My haeders are fine and I just replaced the donut connecting the header to the catback but to no avail. I replaced the cap, rotor, plugs, wire, fuel filter also thinking that would help out wih the code 43 but also to no avail. The only think I can think of is that the cat is clogged somehow and exhaust is being pushed thru at a low rate and the rest is coming out some how. Sometimes when I drive the inside will smoke up especailly if I get on it.
I’m thinking of selling soon so I would like to fix this problem first, any help is deeply appreciated, thanks in advance.
if its a 2 piece header and your o2 is up by the head, and that gasket is leaking it can cause fresh air to get sucked in (can cause a popping sound through exhaust) and that can throw off the readings of the o2
hmmm ok…the only other thing i could think of is the actual connection of the wires where it was extended. if the resistance isnt right/bad connection that to can throw it off
I believe my problem may be my Cat. Conv. ! I get really bad fumes just driving around and worse if ai have to step on it. I was told that the rattling sound that I here is the crap in the cat breaking up and probably clogging up. It makes sense to me cause I’ve checked my exhaust and adjusted and theres no way its leaking. Can anyone confirm this ?
All I know is that my cat rattles and exhaust fumes spew out so bad(only when I’m driving) that I can’t roll my windows down.
My car has been stuttering and looses power sometimes. I’m suspecting my distributor cause I recently replaced the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter and gas cap.
just get under there and bang on it. if you hear crap rattling, it’s probably toast.
you can also start the car up and have a feel at the tail pipe. see if the exhaust seems restricted. maybe have someone hit the throttle a bit at the same time.
I swapped out my distributor and there is no more stuttering. The cel light came on a couple of time but has not come on since yesterday after I wire my fan to the ignition. I still need to swap out my cat, so I’m going to use the one I bought for my 86" CRX, its brand new. I just have to get the flanges welded on. I’ll keep you all posted.
