I have been searching and am having a hard time locating some info…I was wondering if there was a link or a previous post that might list all the OEM exhausts and what cars they might fit onto? I have seen other people modify or use a stock exhaust from another Honda on their cars. Would there be any performance gains? Are the cat back exhuasts from different models any larger in diameter inlet, outlet, etc?
This is something I have been thinking about especially since I went to the junkyard last week. Thought maybe I could hi-jack an exhaust from a civic and with little modification (crossed fingers), I could make it work?
I have a 92 LS and my cat and exhaust are old and need replacing but I don’t really have the money to get a $200 or more exhaust system.
Let me know…and thanks for your help.
Well you could go to a muffler shop and have them make you one. I got my catback for my old civic for $100 and the guy did a great job. By the way, I was selling my Borla one but I might keep it so check the classifieds and keep an eye on it.
I agree, I could go to a muffler shop but I am hoping for something more OEM but with gains if possible.
I am hoping that there is a link or something somebody already did similar to the suspension write up on mixing different struts, forks, etc…?

they’re not really interchangeable… u mite be able to use the 88-81 civic axel-back/muffler, but iono about the mid-pipe… i did once use a aftermarket EG civic axel-back on my stock mid-pipe, and it looked funny as hell and ugly, since its on the other side of the car, not where its suppose to be… u might get a lil performace gain by use the dc or eg exhaust since its straigth through not that many bends like we have it on our da’s… but u’ll have to get use to fact that its on the wrong side and it stick out less or more… mounting maybe needed to be ghetto rigged…
imo just get a custom exhaust with a resenator, if u don’t it well probably sound ricey…
That was what i was thinking too. They all exit in the rear on the other side of the car. I am probably going to have to have a custom one made at a muffler shop here. I guess I could use a quieter muffler since I really don’t want the loud ricey exhaust. That is why I was looking for something more OEM. Thanks for your input.
You can use an OEM muffler and have a custom exhaust made to fit your car.
That is a good idea. I would think there are a few different models that have a nice OEM muffler and have it made with a custom exhaust would sound decent and provide a minimul increase in power. At the least, it should flow a little better.
Any issue with having a OEM muffler shaped like mine on my 92 LS not matching the same size as the replacement? Any issues mounting it same location on left side rear?
Thanks for everyones input so far!
