whats going on da fam quick ? im upgrading my exhaust in a few weeks with header test pipe and catback system what i wanted to know is do i need to get a exhaust extension between the tset pipe and the catback system ive read some stuff but is all unclear to me thanks for the help
not sure what youre asking but when going aftermarket exhaust, you most likely will need to get a custom cat (mid pipe) made or modified. all the aftermarket pieces are different lenghts than the stock set up so they may either be too short or too long. the trick is, install the header then install the cat back. the empty space in the middle needs to be filled. thats when you get the test pipe or cat put in to fill the space. BWR makes a 3pc adjustable test pipe if you wanted to use that. install it and get the pieces tack welded.
i have heard that a 92-93 da exhaust is diff then a 90-91 just trying to see what all i needed im just trying to have all bolt on parts im not the best welder lol and as far as the exhaust im thinking a Tanabe Hyper Medallion style catback megan racing 2 piece header and im going to look in to that test pipe
it is different but I have no idea in what way. as far as I know its just the length of it. no idea WHERE its longer but if you mount the cat back and the header then just get a cat/test pipe made to fill the gap in between, you should be fine. also keep in mind BWR isn’t the only company that makes a 3pc test pipe.
I did mine a little backwards due to the age of my exhaust but I had a universal Skunk2 muffler and went down to les schwabs and had them bend me a custom sized piped from the cat. back and install the muffler. Since I was all legal I could drive around still. I eventually got a universal resonator and had the welder down the road cut a section of the pipe out and install it. Then I got my header. I was thinking of going with a test pipe, but opted out of it. I’m sure I could’ve used the extra piping that was cut to make my own test pipe. I had bought a couple of end pieces (3 holed, end plates, 2.25" i.d.) at the time and could have welded those up with the extra pipe and had a bolt on. I know the down side is I don’t have mandrel bends compared to buying a cat-back system.
