Do the jdm motors we buy/bought really have less than 40,000 miles on them?
Any opinions or known facts are appreciated
I got a b16a Sir 1 from hondamotorsonline

from what i hear, its true…
has something to do with the service interval that is required around that mileage.
tolerances, needed adjustments, filters, belts, etc…

i’ve heard both. some say they only have 30-40k. Personally i’m a little skeptical. If i ever bought one i’d do so and just assume it had 80-100k on it. Pretty much just to be safe.
the b16a i bought pretty much had to have more than 40k. The head looked spotless but the valve cover was chipped worse than my old 120k b18
the b16a i got for 1500 did not look like it had 30-40k miles on it… if it did, the previous owner ran da sh!t outta it… when i took the head off there was black stuff in the intake and alot more in the exhuast… like if it was burning oil. the pistons where black too… if u want to see a pic of it let me noe… if u plan on rebuilding it (like i am) it shouldnt matter dont be a dumbass like me and buy it for $1500 unless your just gonna throw on some bolt ons that just fine for that price… better get a b16a while u still can, prices are going up and the motor is now harder to get…
They basically really only do have those miles, for one reason.
After all JDM cars reach 40k miles, the taxes on the vehicles (yes, they pay a yearly tax on them) increases IMMENSLEY. (how you like that spelling?) The reason being, that way, people are more interested in the newer cars, to pay less taxes. The Japanese govt does it to kinda kick the economy in the pants, so to speak.
