Factory Alarm Plug question

I bought a factory alarm out of a junk yard and am wiring it up today. Everything is pretty straightforward, but there are two plugs that I can’t figure out. The first one is a male 3 prog with 3 wires Blue w/ White, Black, and Red w/white wires. It is not part of a Y connection…is this the lead for a valet switch?

The second one is a 6 prong plug with 4 wires. Two Black w/white stripe, one labeled “Starter Cut Relay” one solid black wire and one orange wire. The one wire labeled went under the hood, but the engine was gone so I don’t know where it went. Starter solenoid? Relay? I was also curious where the other 3 wires on this plug went.

There was actually one other large Y plug that was pluged into itself, but I assume this is for power locks which I don’t have.

Also, if anyone knows how to program the alarm to a new fob, that would also be helpful.

Thanks,

Robin Reynolds

If someone has the factory installation instructions, and could scan and email them to me, that might prove to be the most helpful, Acura Carland claims to have access to this, but no actual link. I ran into some issues after the first post and could use the assistance.

I have a friend that is selling his factory alarm and i know everything is pretty much plug and play…

But I need to know where this unit is installed and what it looks like… does anyone konw…??

thanks

I found the main head unit under the glove box, this looks like it should be the stock location it is made for because of wiring harness length. It will have 4 things pluged into it, 2 wiring harness plugs, a glass break microphone (looks like headphone plug) and a short antenna that plugs in with what looks like an audio rca plug.

It is black, says “Acura security” on it. The one I found had one brass colored bracket that attached it under the dash. The backside has a little access panel with dip switches and a micro button under it. It is roughly a 4.5 by 5 inches square and 1.5 inches tall maybe a little smaller.

The wiring harness will snake under the dash to the fuse box and up to the steering column. All the plugs will be Y plugs with a male and female, you unplug them and plug the ones that stay in the car back together. The power plugs into the fuse box, and there should also be a ground in that general vacinity. Aside from these Y connectors, there will be 4 other plugs.

1 for the LED, and then the other three are what I am trying to figure out. I think that one is for the valet switch, one is for the Starter cut relay and the third has another relay that allows the alarm to control the lights when the car is off. There will be one more Y set that may or may not be pluged into itself, I’m pretty sure that this is for power locks, but I don’t have them and neither did the car I took it out of, so it was pluged into itself. The install is pretty easy if you are comfortable taking out interior panels.

Will you let me know if there are two relays and the valet switch attached to the harness when you take it out. I have plug descriptions in my earlier posts, thanks. Hope this helps you.

Looking at the 97 acura integra factory installation instructions, it says to install the alarm under the drivers seat, so you might check there also.

I have the alarm and installed it myself. I can tell you that the two wires that your looking for is a complete bitch to get to! The first one, which is a three prong is probably the one that is farthest to the left of the dashboard. It’s going to be an orange/brown plug which is hard to get to because of the metal wall that is blocking your way.

For the other one, your going to have to take off your steering wheel, and look at the harnesses in the plastic area where all your wiper and headlight switches are.

Are you sure you got everything from the car? It should also an antenna, old school glass sensor and a bracket to put place the brain in…

I hope it helps. I wish I had a scanner! I have the instructions right in front of me! IM me if you wish: nizmoboy206

If you can scan images and pictures that would be awesome. There’s nothing like a factory alarm…

I’m trying to make my whole car OEM. ehhehe

1992gs206, I think I already found the two plugs you are talking about. I think the 3 prog I was talking about is for the valet switch (which wasn’t in the car) and the other goes to a relay for the lights(which was also gone) does this sound right? Is there also another relay for the starter kill?

If there is any way I could bribe you to go to a copy store and scan those instructions in? I’m kinda poor right now, but I could paypal you $5 or something. Then we could post them somewhere on this site for anyone to use in the future.

Do you have access to a fax machine?

I’m going to be out of town for 2 days, so don’t think I’m ignoring you If I don’t post back soon.

You mean your trying to make your car factory stock as possible right?

Detailed instructions would be excellent!!!

But yeah… i’m trying to make it as ‘factory’ as possible… the only aftermarket thing i have really is my momo steering wheel, but it’s just a regular black one… and aftermarket h&r lowering springs. That’s about it.

Stock AM/FM cd player
Stock arm rest on the right side of the driver’s seat
Stock rear headrests…

Stock and clean as possible
geez, even my air intake is stock lol removed air resonator of course

And adding a stock factory alarm is a nice feature. (the alarm i have on it right now is CRAP as hell… i get what i pay for right?)

Nope, if you took out everything correctly in the teg you took it out of, you should use ALL of the plugs that are on that harness! I’m telling you, the relays and whatnot are inside of your steering wheel column! Take that out and you’ll notice what is going on.

The only thing I can forsee you not having is the power door lock switch if you do not currently have them installed in your car. That is the only plug you wouldn’t use. I notice y ou have an LSS…you should have them.

Bro, I wish I could scan it and sent it to ya! I do’nt have a scanner nor do i have a fax machine! Sorry!

OK, I’ll check again, but I had two plugs hooked up in the steering wheel already, and there wasn’t any place for these other two to go, I’ll take a picture later today and email it to you to show you the plugs. I figured that they went to relays and they had already been stripped out of the car when I got to it.

Just to confirm, you are saying there are no relays that come with the alarm at all?

Just:
1 Head Unit
1 wiring harness
1 glass break sensor/microphone
1 antenna
Instructions
Fobs

This is it?

You don’t think it matters that the car I took it out of was a 90-91 and mine is a 92-93, do you?

Also, my LSS doesn’t have door locks, seems like it should though huh? I have that plug wired back into itself like it was in the car I took it out of.

Yeah if your car doens’t have power door locks, your going to have an extra plug hanging. You should use all plugs except for the power door locks. Oh and it doesn’t matter what year you have because the wiring is the same for the g2…

So no relays come with the kit then?

Is there any way I could pay you to go to a copy center to scan or copy those instructions, we don’t seem to be doing a very good job communicating.

I have the factory alarm too. Also coming with it should be a bracket for under the driver’s side dash in which the valet switch, mic for glass break, and silent arming switch are located. Just FYI the stock harness only has inputs for 2 sensors (door, trunk) but you can add 2 more inputs by opening up the brain and making the aditional connections.

I also have some ?'s about the alarm, first what it the microbutton inside the brain’s back cover for? Its not labeled like the dip switches. Also, what direction do you turn the glass break sensor adjuster to increase sensitivity? Thats not labeled either.

Thanks brinks, do you happen if I am right about the relays? Are there supposed to be two attached to the main alarm harness???

I was thinking that that little button might have something to do with keying a new fob, but that is just a wild guess. Also just a guess is that the glass break sensor follows convention and gets more sensitive as you turn it clockwise. Can’t you test it by banging on a corner of your windshield with your fist? That is how I used to test how sensitive my old alpine alarm was.

The two plugs that I THINK go to relays are one labeled Sm Lt Relay the other is labeled stater cut relay. Do you know which one’s I’m talking about?
I’m not talking about Y connections, just two individual plugs, they branch out at the same place as the power door lock plugs and the plugs labeled ignition switch. Both have 4 wires, one has the main power (yellow) running through it(two thick yellow wires a white wire and a red wire, and the other looks like it has the main ground running through it with (3 thick black wires and an orange wire). Is there any way you could peek under your drivers side dash and see where these go for me?
Thanks,

Robin Reynolds

Well, it’s been a few years, I figure this is good for a bump.

1992gs206, did you ever get a scanner? It’s 2008 man!

Sad that it is 5 1/2 years later and I just ran into the wire harness in a box while cleaning out my closet… I wonder where I put the main control unit???

I should totally try to install this thing. I wonder if I need an additional relay for the starter kill…

wat

Contact Alpine, the Honda/Acura “OEM” alarms are made by Alpine, pretty much a SEC-8026 I believe.:idea:94

Is that an abbreviation for something helpful?

Getting a reply from alpine about the part number of a relay from an OEM alarm they made in 1990 is about as likely as someone around here actually looking under their dash and getting a part number for the relay for me, but I do appreciate the attempt.
