I’ve got a four-door, and there are trim pieces just aft of the rear door windows on the body that are losing their original black color. Anyone have good ideas on how to restore them?
funny that you asked that cause I bought my car with primer sprayed on the window trim. I used a buffing compound to get it off, but then I noticed how glossy they were from me rubbing the primer off. It basically polishes the trim very good.
I found flat black spray paint looks fine. Used it on windshield wipers, trim, etc. Masking tape and newspaper - test a small area first if you have doubts about the colour.
I’ve noticed this same problem! I own a `90 sedan, that originally was red before it’s previous owner got in a front end crash…I notice that the windshield & backshield (back window) the plastic strip in some spots (the corners mainly) are fading. Also on the same looking strips along my rear windows are doing the same thing! is there a way i can take this off and REPLACE these? but not have to screw up anything, like scratching the window? if so, where & how much?
because when i polished my car, i pressed down the polisher & smushed my windshield strip on the driver side a bit too hard & someone rubbed something white on my passenger side windshield strip…I will post pics for what I’m talking about hopefully tomorrow
If you go to a auto parts store, like Autozone. They sell spray paint that is for respraying your trim. I have used it before for my wipers and it works pretty awesome. It is called trim spray or something like that.
…yeah i knew that, but how do i take the trim out? because if you just spray it, it won’t get the edges…when taped off
