Falken Ziex

So i’ve been surfing this forum for a while now and i was wondering, why dont people like the falken ziex tires?
what is a good purpose for these tires? Street use? Track use? which is better!

any input would be appreciated because im about to purchase tires.
whats a good tire in you guys opinion? im not trying to spend a fortune!

thanks!

I think it’s because they make 2 compounds: one that grips sorta well and one that wears well. It’s confusing because a consumer may buy the hi miles one an d instead discover his ziex is worn out in 25-30k miles, or another consumer who had the azenis and is now trying the economy tire and hates the low grip level.

Take a look at the different ziex model traction ratings.

The grippy ziex (don’t know which one, i think its the 502 or the 912) is actually not that bad for spirited driving.

I’ve used the 512, 912, and 329 cause I worked for a tire shop that got hell of a good discount. I was suprised the tires aren’t bad at all. It is true that it depends on the compound you get. The 512’s don’t tend to last as much as the 912/329’s did. in Wet/Dry weather\ me and my friends never had issues. DOn’t kno if it helps at all but thats my .02 cent

i seriously dislike my 512s. they are LOUD. These are so loud in fact that my rear tire was flat and i couldn’t even tell until i visually confirmed it (flat caused by leaking valvestem, not a puncture). On smooth asphalt there’s a loud “wong wong wong wong wong” sound, and every time i exit the freeway and stop i realize how loud the radio was to drown out the noise. I’ve had these for about 20k miles as well. tires were aligned, mounted, and balanced at installation

got Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2s waiting as replacements. I’m going to drive these Ziex into the proverbial ground.

I’m running on the 912’s now and they are awesome in wet conditions. Dry conditions is not bad either. The best thing I like about them is that they last forever till the end of time… I use them on my DD and love it!

Well I never had issues with road noise on any of the cars we put them on but I think the longest I kept a set of wheels was 8-10k so maybe we just didn’t rack up the milage. I actually chose falken for the fact that road noise was non exsistent(spell?)

thanks for the input guys!

i bought some fat five rims with used 512 on them, they were really really loud , i thought it was the camber wear causing they so loud

and i get worse gas mileage too, causing the thread is uneven

anyways , i will try some nitto neo gen later, they make 205 50 15

i had azenis…quick camber wear and loud. i have neo gens now…205 16 45’s. really quiet and last longer than azenis.

how much did a set of thos run you for?

i found out this is the cheapest place to buy tires

they are, but it doesn’t mean that they can’t wear due to camber or be loud (darn double negatives). Obviously they’re not designed for comfort.
