if you lay fiberglass down directly onto any surface without aluminum foil or some other barrier it will never come off.
ok so vaselin or something like that wont work?
i guess it depends on how the resin reacts with petroleum products, since vasline is petroleum-based.
how cheap is aluminum foil and masking tape though?
ima use aluminum foil. i was jw if the guy above use vaseline cuz i didnt see any aluminum foil or anything. the foil wont stick to the resin?
it may or it may not, but a little foil here and there on the bottom (where nobody will ever see it) is a small price to pay to ensure it’ll be removable later on if you sell/part out the car.
if you want, try spraying the foil with pam or some other non-stick cooking spray. i’ve been told by a few friends who do installs for a living that it’s often very effective at keeping the majority, if not all, of the foil removable from the fiberglass shell after it dries.
I just masked off the entire spair tire well before building up the mold. Then When I had two or three layers layed up I poped it out and let it set up. From there it was trimmed and more layers added.
Here is what I did in my DB1.

The pics are either the fiberglass/bondo work for the enclosure, or the final product.
Before you look, don’t hate the amp. It does what I need it to do.
Oh ya, to thread jack for a second, AF, I finally found someone that will allow me to test fit my tri-bar on their car. I stopped working on the second prototype because of a lack anyone local that would help. Now that I have someone local to test on, I am going to start working on the next prototype.
