I have someone who is selling a YS1 GSR tranny. He has a stage one Excedy clutch and a ACT Streetlite flywheel 12.8 LBS. I have a B18A1 and the car this came out of had a B18C. Can I use the clutch and flywheel on my car or would I need to get a different clutch and flywheel?
b-series flywheel of any year , vtec or not will fit
for the clutch there is 2 size(different trannsmission shaft and pp thickness)
just make sure to installe the good one
90-91 transmission got a smaller shaft will fit only with 90-91 clutch kit
92-01 transmission got the same shaft all those years andwill fit with 92-01 clutch kit (hydro or cable transmission doesnt matter)
for the flywheel like i said 100% bolt on
The clutch he is selling came off the GSR YS1 trans so I should be good to get the clutch, trans, and flywheel then. Thanks for the info
no problem
if it was in there there is no way it wont fit on yours
I have a 92 RS all stock so this should all fit in my car right? Also do you think $500 is a good deal for everything?
100% sure
at that point i would say yes but make sure the transmission is in good shape, i mean there is no grind or no popping gear, those transmission are getting old, many of them are damage due to weak synchro’s
will you be using honda oil in this ys1 transmission???
if your driving like crazy like i do lol, you can use GM synchromesh modified friction, this is what i use and no broken transmission , no broken gear , synchro or differential, i made 37000km on it so far
By the way this is a nice upgrade for you car you will like it for sure, maybe the only thing you will dislike is the 5th gear which is way too short, this is why i put a Rs gear on the 5th gear of my b16a transmission!
They guy said it never popped out but if he would shift hard like a mad man it would grind from 3rd to 4th but if you drive it like a normal person it would not grind. I am going to open and inspect it just to make sure everything looks good. I plan in using GM Synchromesh (where does one obtain this anyway?) and possible swapping in my 5th gear from my NON-GSR YS1.
EDIT:
I found where to get the GM Synchromesh… From GM DUH… Didn’t think it was from GM since people put it in a Honda lol. Anyway… I am thinking of getting a LSD installed into the GSR-YS1. Should I use OEM or is there something aftermarket worth putting in. If OEM is the best anyone have a part number for this?
OK I got the YS1 GSR trans, clutch, and flywheel. The guy who had this car built actually got on these forums but I have no idea who it was. Oh well maybe I will find out later on.
The guy couldn’t get the bar off that goes to the shift linkage so he cut it. How do I fix this so I can swap it into my car. Here is a pic:

Looking into getting a LSD for this trans. Anyone have any input on that as in type and brand?
yest its no bid deal taking it off… its just a clip that is under the black ruber part… remove the clip and under the clip their should be a pin… ppl call it “THE BITCH PIN”… and you will find out why… lol its kinda annoying to take off…

lsd?.. STEER CLEAR FROM CHEAD “AFFORDABLE” LSDs on EBAY… i believe their are many things you can go cheap on… but import things like differential isnt one of them!!! you get what you pay for… quaif is a top lsd brand but the lsd gors for about 1000!!!.. go with the MFACTORY LSD VERY AWESOME reviews on ths… its about half the price of the quaif one =)
or you can also go with an OEM lsd… can go wrong with honda OEM =)
Thanks for the info man. I will have to look into these. Any idea of the part number for the Honda LSD? Are the 2 mentioned better then a Honda LSD?
