Let me know what you think.

Whats your suspension setup? Good driving. Get a sound damper for your camera’s mic, we will still be able to hear the engine, but you won’t have the annoying wind noise. Also, whats up with the 5lbs of painter tape on the front and behind the rear wheels? Maybe track conditions said it would be a good idea, flying debris?

heres the mod list

yea the track is an old air field and the run ways are falling apart. the last event they had people came back with no paint on the front end. i also just had the car painted so i wasnt take any chances. i’ll look into the sound damper for the mic. it was a last min thing, they really didnt want us to have cameras so i had to sneak one in.

here you can see the storm left by some of the rwd cars. this is the reason for the tape.

heres some good pics some one just gave me

hell ya good driving erik!

That looks like some fun. A lot different from auto-x’s eh? Hopefully Im goin to VIR in December to pop my road race cherry.

Just a few critiques/observations, I know the course is bumpy and all over the place so some things might be different in real life. Also I don’t know how your integra likes to turn in but hopefully it’s not drastically different from ours (even with a 300lb weight difference.)

Turn 2 (1:03 entry to 1:13 track out)
Looks like you have more track available on track out. Might be able to change the line to move more inside on 2B section and track out more. Basically the question is can you late apex on 2A and early apex more on 2B to carry more speed onto the “straight”… all depends on the condition of the track on the line you will now be running. All the surface in that area looks pretty much similar though.

Turn 4 (1:35 entry and understeer off to edge)
Too early of an apex, hold to the outside just a little longer and use trail braking to turn in - your integra seems to have a pretty stable setup.

Turn 9 (2:50 entry)
Seem like you should be able to get closer to the inside and maintain a good line through track out carrying more speed on the short straight section. Just seem to be holding an outside line for no apparent reason. Try a little earlier apex.

Turn 10 (3:06 entry)
Very good, just wind the wheel out a tad more while applying power to smooth track out.

Turn 11 (3:17 entry)
Just need to get it turned in more. Try turning in and getting on the power just a bit earlier via trail braking…

thanks for the advice. this was the first warmup lap so it had alot of flaws. i have almost 20min of video but that would take for ever on youtube so i just did the first lap. i missed alot of the apexs on that lap.

check out the late Ayrton Senna testing out the Acura NSX on Suzuka Circuit in Japan. you can probably find it on Youtube.

tell me you smoked that miata and bmw.

Always nice to see DAs at the track.

haha yea the miata was cake. the bmws on the other hand, they are modified m3s so i couldnt quite catch up but i did stay right on their ass. the m3 guys were all my friends, i dont know if you can see but the rear end says gsr>m3.

road racing is a whole different ball park than autox. if i had the option i would never do another autox. road races are very costly. this event cost me a set of tires, brake pads, 3 tanks of gas, and the 20 dollar entry fee. which is hella cheap for these races. usually its close to 150. it was a special event to try to get more pople to attend.

i love how you get almost 3 hours seat time and working the track is an option. that was the worst part of autox for me is the corner work. texas sun is killer.

that is great, what did you have your illuminas set at? and whats your alignment specs? and how did your brakes feel, i think if you got more of an aggressive brake setup they would last longer, also what tires are you running?

$20!!..damn. but yeah, good to know that there are people out there who are into roadracing, i tell you…nothing like going out on the track and ‘battling’ it out with one another. nothing like pulling g’s going out of a corner knowing you ‘hit’ the apex and pushing the car AND yourself to the limit. when you get to road racing, it’s a whole different ballgame from straight line racing, i can’t even begin to tell you what it has done for me in my life. F1, Champcar, Karting…it’s more than just a sport, its a lifestyle.

i think i was running the illuminas at 2 in front and 4 in back. the alignment was all set to factory specs execpt for camber which is -2.5 up front and -3 in the rear. it felt pretty stable, i had 0 understeer and just the right amount of oversteer for my likings. i really wish i had a rear sway bar. it felt like i did have one because i was running the smaller wheels in the back. my brakes need to be flushed and bleed they are a little sloppy right now. after the third 100 to 30mph stop they were starting to get musshy.

i wish i had the money to get another da to gut and race. my poor gsr is also my daily driver and is getting old.

invest in some steel braided brake lines.

yea i will when the money starts flowing again. being an unemployed college student sucks. the only way i could attend this event was because it was 20 bucks.

word, i just received my ss brake lines today, putting them on asap  but i have endless pads and ate fluid already, the lines will add the finishing touch

$20 is an awsome deal for a track day! A track weekend (2-days) at MSR-Houston runs about $300 for running with an independant group. MSR-Houston has a deal though where you can work actual road races / test days / special events and get paid for doing it or get a half day of free track time for each day worked. So it’s free track time other than cost of wear/tear on the car.

Probably was near time to change out the tires and brake pads right? Tires should last a good while…as should brake pads. From new you should be able to get 10+ good track days from a set of good street tires (Yokohama ES-100, Kumho Ecsta MX, Hankook R-S2 Z212.) And depending on how you brake, the pads (Axxis Ultimates, Performance Friction Carbon Metallics, Hawk HP+, etc…) should last quite a while too. For brake fluid I would suggest the Valvoline SynPower (can get it anywhere for about $5 a quart) if you are on a tight budget, ATE Super blue / type 200 if not so tight on the budget (about $11 a liter).

What does your GSR feel like running the Illumina’s higher than 2 in the front? We run our RS at 5F/5R (with factory anti-roll bars) and it’s not quite enough, but the best the car’s setup can do. 4F/5R is almost as good except for under braking the rear end is a little too happy (can get sideways if conditions are right - offcamber decreasing radius turn.) I would think with a significantly heavier weight you would want more front rebound stiffness to keep the front end planted better for more grip and less upsetting influence to the rear. Of course the difference between Eibach Pro-kit springs with 205/50-15 Hankook R-S2 Z212 tires and H&R sport springs with 205/40-17 Kumho MX Front/whatever size rear might be in play too.

my good friend josh instructs over at the houstn course. he also drives a DA. he was telling me that its free for him because he teaches.

the tires and brakes were at alteast 60%+ life. now they are at 20%+ I was pushing the car to the extreeeme for a good 2 hours. i also drove to Corpus Christy and back to SA in the same day. it was a good 400 mile day.

the rear tires are falken azenis 195/60/14 i think. a bit smaller so it gave me a good amount of oversteer.
