Hello G2! This autox season I picked up a set of the brand new 205/50/15 BFG Rivals… which I first might add that ill never go to another ST tire again other than the Rivals. They are killer tires and the lateral grip is INSANE. Id take them over the RS-3’s or the magical 195 R1R’s any day.
Anyway, I’ve been debating on going to a reverse staggered setup. I currently have 15x7 MB Motoring Competition wheels. My STC class limits wheel size to 7.5 width and a 225 tire. I would like to pick up two 15x7.5 wheels for the front only (maybe Konig Lightspeeds?) and a set of 225/45/15 BFG Rivals for the front and keep the 205 in the rear… as I dont seem to have a shortage of rear grip given my suspension setup.
Ive been searching for this type of fitment on a DA but cant seem to find much on it. Anyone run this setup? Or have pics with entire wheel/tire specs?
Also, for the STC class I am unable to modify the “outside contour of the fender”. I am able to roll the inside lip flat (which I have done) but I cannot pull the fender to fit a bigger tire.
The offset is the tricky part. Many honda wheels are in the 40’s for offset, except oddball sizes like 7.5" which are often in the low 30’s. What offset do those 7.5" wheels have?
The wheels I want are +32. I currently use +40 15x7 w/205/50/15 tires for racing. My DD’s are 16x8 +20 w/205/45/16 tires.
That’s what made me think the +32 15x7.5 w/225/45/15 tire might work. Its almost in the middle of my DD’s and race tires. I just wanted some feedback on fitment and rubbing.
LOOKING AWESOME! How much lower than stock are you in the pictures above? Do you anticipate needing a fender roll (have you checked if the rub while cornering at low speed)? I’d love to hear how the balance of the car has changed… your grip is going to be fantastic.
Thanks buddy! Sorry for the delay. Im probably 2.5" low. I have rolled the fenders all the way around to clear my DD wheels (showed on the back in the pics above) I have zero rubbing, ive autox’d it on 3 events so far and I love the extra grip. But yeah, no clearance issues at all at any speed, turning etc.
I think it depends on what offset you choose. If you search around people have problems rubbing on the trailing arm. So you have the trailing arm and lip to deal with. Like I said the key will be finding the right offset and width. To get some specs on wheel setups compared to what you run now check out this website: http://www.willtheyfit.com/
I think you could definitely fit a 8" wheel in the rear. Heck in the pictures I posted above, those rear wheels are 16x8 with a +20 offset. If you are planning to run race tires you will need less offset to fit a fatter tire as the ones above in my pictures are 205/45 and are decently streched. Id say maybe a +32 or +30?
Seems like a good place to ask… Do you think I could fit 15x8 et20 with a 205/50/R15 with out extensive fender work? My car is only lowered 2 inches and I have camber adjustment if need be.
I have XXR 521 16x8 +20 wheels with 205/45/16 tires that I daily on. Fitment is perfect, no rubbing. I rolled my fenders but thats it. Hairdryer, a towel for cushion, a small hammer and you can massage the lip under with some patience. Unless you can barrow an actual fender rollers… those things are awesome. I have rolled fenders both ways though.
