i finally decided to take out my blower motor today and see if it was shot. definetly was. took it out and then took of the cover on the motor side and wow mad rust and chunks started falling out. i fixed my cowl leak acouple months ago so i can put a good one in. dissasembled the motor and its pretty simple. there is the housing that it sits in with the 2 magnets on each side, the shaft with the coil on it that goes inbetween the magnets, the cap for the motor which the shaft sits in, in a small hole at the top and a little plate that holds the 2 contact points and the wires that touch the shaft on the upper half. threw everything in a parts cleaner for about 20 mins. scrubed all the rust and crap off everything. washed off the parts in water then sprayed some wd40 on them so they wouldn’t rust. the major things i needed to do where get all the rust off the electrical points and in the top of the cover where the shaft sits and spins and one of the springs that pushes the one contact point out so it rides on the shaft was disinigrated so i had to find a new one. lubed the top of the shaft with high temp bearing grease where it spins at and spread some white lithium grease on the brushes portion that go in between the magnets and put it all back together. plugged it back in and horray it works again but only on high. stupid resistor. oh well it was free and it took about an hr and its good as new now.
Yabba dabba dooooo!!!
:werd:
mine blew about two weeks ago. and for about 4 months before it blew i had to hit it or get the passenger to kick it to get it going, and it would barely blow at all. it also had an enjoyable clicking noise when on. so it finally died and i gave acura a call… “yeah its about 413$” oh ok great, talk to you soon!. fuck that, went to a junkyard and got a mint one for 70$, feels like a flippin’ hurricane in my car now
wow I think I might try this, my motor is totally dead
i need a whole new cowl, the edges broke when i took it off last time. and wiper cowls arent cheap
Once bought a 91 LS from a guy who always parked it under a weeping willow.
Blower problem was hardly any flow. Took off the cowls and crikeys, the squirrel cage was chuck full of leaf material. Warning, do not inhale when you have the controls on vent and turn the blower switch on full bore. Hack!!!
