There is space in there though you may have to trim the duct behind it. You will have to make a custom bezel for it, attaching it securely is something you will have to figure out. I just epoxied my bezel in place, though a deck will weigh a bit more it will need to be screwed in the back. I can post pics but I put gauges there so not really what you are looking for.
Either that or trade your flip out for a double din screen that is solid and doesnt flip out.
Here is the bezel I made for mine. I dont know if it will fit a din player with the hvac controls in, its going to be close.
the tighter the fit the better. I don’t mind trimming a little thats not a problem. is the heater control’s separated from the vents? like there is a piece of plastic that runs the length of the bottom right? I’m going to pop out the trim and see how well it fits the stereo before i start cutting. but from what i can see on your pic it looks like it should do just fine. especially with the cage that goes around the deck.
I took out the two vents from the top blocked off the vents behind it i extended the radio harnes to reach it it worked realy good but that was years ago sorry no pics of it but its pretty simple
ya I just finished it actually and it works very good. it actually fits more snug in there than the oem slot lol. i’m gonna snap a couple pics and ill throw em up in a few.
I wanna see how it looks! I’ve been thinking of doing this for so long!
ill get a couple pictures up when i get home. I also did the ford taurus cupholder thing too so it looks even better. And I have to say the fitment is very good IMO.
edit: I just noticed your from Marysville thats cool.
Hope those work. I will be switching my cup holders around with the stash box above them, I don’t like the way it looks like that.
I got the cupholders from a 94 Ford Taurus and the Stash box from a 95 Mercury Marquee
edit: I am in the process of making a little piece of metal to go under the bowed part below my stereo it doesn’t hide any of my lights and its barely noticeable if your sitting in the car just cruising.
You still do this? Cause here’s mine, I haven’t secured it yet but it works and looks good where it sits!
Since i had plans for the center vent anyways. I decided to go ahead and try it there. The vent was a complete B$@# to remove, but I did it.
Here’s final results. Just gotta fully secure it so it will never move or be able to move without removing some bolts.
i love my ac too much to do this
Lol If I was in a hot area like you, I wouldn’t have done it. But i’m up here in Western Washington and I have only used it once this summer.
lol i lived in tacoma before, kinda miss that place alot
