fluctuating idle.

Sometimes it would idle fine (750), sometimes it would idle high (1200) and sometimes low (600). Timing is 16 degrees, FP is 30psi. Will try a higher FP though.

Whatz uP?

FP set at 37 psi…
still fluctuating.

take off your iacv and clean it with b12 chemtool.

b12 chemtool, what is that and where do i get it? i cleaned my iacv with break cleaner and then hosed it with water and it didn’t fluctuate as much, but it still did have a minor fluctuate

low idle

uhhh- kind of new to this - what’s the iacv?

Ditto! please try not to use acrynoms for everything since I’m sure there are a few newbies trying to learn what you pros already know.

Thanks.

IACV = idle air control valve. Located on the backside of the intake manifold.

I hate this freakin idle problem !!!

Its been bugging me for months now. Sprayed lotsa TB cleaner into the IACV and that didnt help.

Still bummed.

I had it bad for a week, and fixed it today. The idle would bounce from 1200 to 2000 constantly. The Fast Idle Thermo Valve located under the throttle body has a plastic screw in it which can back itself out. Just take the cover off the end of it and screw that thing back in. You’re going to have to remove the valve from the manifold, though. It’s on there with 3 10mm bolts and 2 coolant hoses connected. HTH

yup it’s the Fast Idle Valve. it’s common in honda/acura cars. you know what? you can adjust them! you dont have to buy new ones either. yup, they’re adjustable.

How the **** do you ajust the fast idle valve, this damn thing is pissing me off, revving up and down from 2,000 to 100 and back. Please answer asap.

Hey mango, gotta stop reving it so it’ll stop moving up and down  j/k i have no freaking clue

i had the same problems as you guys and i did what AZN recommended, fix the fast idle valve that is under the throttle body, i think it had three bolts holding it on with two coolant hoses. I would suggest cleaning your IAVC too, but only because now my car runs a litlte nicer. GOOD LUCK

e-mail me if you want to know how.

of course it’s pissing you off. it pisses everybody that have that same problem. jus imagine you’re at a stop light and a S351 SALEEN pulls up to the light too and your idle revs up and down and the driver of the SALEEN looks over and laughs at you. you flip him the bird and light truns green, he dumps the clutch and floors it and you jus take your time cause you DONT even have a chance against him.

Did you have to remove the throttle body to get to the Fast idle?

If you read my post, two above yours, you’d see :rocket:

No, you don’t have to remove the tb to get it off.
