So anyway, I installed my bi-xenon retrofitted lights in my car today, no actual lights though, just the fogs. Well an odd thing happened, and this has never happened before. My 15amp fuse for the fog lights blew, well… more like melted?
And then I felt the housing and it was SUUUUPER hot to the touch. My only assumption, is that now that there aren’t any bulbs plugged into the light socket, too much power is going to it. Because normally as you all know, the fog lights only come on with the low beams, except for I did the fog light trick, but rather than using the defroster wire, I ran a wire to the fuse box for power.
Bear in mind that I’ve never had this problem before now. And all wiring for the fog lights is the same, just that the headlight bulbs aren’t plugged in.
I had the same problem. My fog light fuse melted as well. I am new to this forum so I am in need of urgent help. I recently bought the car and it already had a few problems. At first, my fog light fuse was out, so I replaced it with a 10 fuse. After that, it was fully functional. The fogs functioned for a couple days. Then, when I was at Walmart, on my way home, thick, white smoke started appearing where my fuse box was. I parked and jumped out of my car. When I turned off my car and the headlights, the left fog light was still on even with everything off. Then I found that the fog light fuse melted. I removed it and found that wires under my hood on the left side were fried. Please help me and tell me what exactly should I do to repair my fog lights please and thank you.
