Fog Light Ground Wire

I’m having a problem with my driver side fog light ground wire. Originally when I bought my 1-piece headlights the driver side fog light wouldn’t work. I found out that where the ground wire was connected to was corroded so I moved it and it worked fine for about 3 months. However, today the bulb went out and when I went to check it I could see that the wire was burnt and very hot. So I moved it again and it’s still hot and after a while it starts to smoke.

I’m guessing the resistance is too high, but I don’t know why. The bulb is a 55 watt H3 bulb and still works fine, would maybe using a 35 watt bulb help? I’m not a complete noob with electrical things, but I know I don’t know as much as other people on this board who probably know what’s wrong.

If you need to know the locations of where I rewired the ground I could try and take pictures.

If it is just the ground lead that gets hot, and only on the drivers side, you have a grounding problem, you may have to replace the ground lead completely, as it is probably damaged from overheating, [not just the insulation but the wire itself], I would also check continuity to ground on the spot you are grounding to. 94

good info… i had the same problem for awhile… i just decided to make all of my own grounds…
