Fog light question

Yes, I did a search. Can the fog lights be on without the headlights? We’re still in the process of getting a b16a for the Teg so I’m just trying to figure out how things work.
Thanks
L.

One more thing, if it’s not possible to have the fogs on w/o the headlights, is there a way to hook it up that way? On Shenrie’s Teg he has them on with yellow bulbs, which looks sweet by the way. He’s actually the one hooking us up with the engine.
L.

man you really need to search harder then its in the tegtips section(at the top of the page http://www.g2ic.com/tegtips/ ) and there is 2 fairly good sized threads about(1 of which is the 10th one down in the articles/tegtips in the information section)

the yellow trick is in the tegtips aswell

 I did!!! I searched fog lights, and foglights. Thanks for you help, again.
L.

you can use more than 1 word in the search, like Rewire Foglight, several threads about this will come up if you used that

Well, I was looking at all of those Tegtips, but I couldn’t find anywhere if the fogs can be on w/o the headlights. I looked at all of the fog light threads.
L.

the link i posted click it

there are 6 catergories, the one in the middle on the bottom is Lighting, click the drop tab, the very top one on that list is rewiring foglights

or in the search field type in rewire foglights there should be a huge thread with over 100 posts thats 2nd down from the top

If you had looked at all the Fog Light threads in Teg Tips, then you should have read the VERY FIRST thread, which is how to rewire foglights. It took me all of 4.72 seconds to find this thread.

But that isn’t what I want. All that says that if you don’t want the your interior lights to dim during the day because you have to have other lights on. Maybe I’m misreading?

“The cool thing about this method is that you’ll wire the fog switch to another switch so that you won’t have to turn any lights on and cause your interior light (radio, clock) to dim during the day.”

I just want to know, day or night, can the fog lights be on without the headlights being on.
L.

yes

do exactly what that tip says and you press the fog button anytime you want as long as the key is in the second ign. spot the fogs will come on by themselves, with parking lights, with regular lights, or brights

use the link posted above or this one

heres a pic of my car i just took 5 seconds ago to show you what it will look like if you do that tip(mine also has the glare gaurds removed as well)

Hmmm… I don’t want them coming on by themselves. If I get in the car and start it up and say I want my fog lights on, I want to just be able to push the fog light button and they turn on. Is this how they work? Or, do the headlights have to be on, then I push the fog lights button and they turn on, but only when the headlights are on?
L.

yep exactly, except you can now have them on by themselves or with the parking lights or regular beam heads or brights

they come on if the button is pushed in and the key is in IGN. 2 spot, you can turn them off simply by pressing the fog botton again.

the reason several members do this is so you dont have to have the headlights on like you would normally have to, and so you can have extra light with the brights on(normally the fogs turn off if you click the brights on)

pretty much all you are doing is tapping into the input power wire to the defroster switch

 That’s what I was looking for. So, to wrap it up, if I want the fogs on, without the headlights, I need to tap into the defogger switch.
Thanks all
L.

thats most of us did it(probably the easiest), there are a couple other methods as well though

http://www.g2ic.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31531&highlight=rewire+foglight

and some members did it by running a wire to the fuse panel if i remember correctly

Your way seems the best. The other one seems a little complicated.
L.

This thing works. Just did it today on my teggy took me 10 minutes max  good thread thanks

wow you pulled up a ten year old thread to say that? haha glad it worked for you, it is one of my favorite things i’ve done so far with the yellow bulbs now i just need 1 pieces and it will be even better.
