Hi yesterday i went to turn on my fogs and noticed they don’t turn on and my rear defoggers dont work either. The lights on the buttons don’t light up either. Does anyone know if this is a fuse or something? thanks
EDIT : my fogs ARE rewired

Have you checked the fuse?
When you say “my fogs ARE rewired” are you referring to the TEG TIPS rewire, to the rear window defog switch?
Check the rear window defog fuse, if it’s OK you will need a multimeter or test light to troubleshoot.:whisper: 94
yeah, the teg tips.
where is the fuse for the defogger i guess should be my question.
make sure your fog wire didn’t come loose somewhere…the other day I accidentally hit mine with my foot and unplugged it, but I fixed it. Also the rear defrost is a common problem of a bad ICU…do you have any other symptoms of that?
what are the other symptoms?
Because both the fog lights and the rear window defog is not working the problem will be no power to the defog switch and not the ICU, although Bacardi
Breezer is correct about the ICU controlling the rear window defog, but it only controls the time the defog relay is on.
He is also correct that the ICU is a common problem in G2s.
Among other things and the rear window defog, the ICU control your front side markers, the intermittent wipers and the warning chimes, [seat belt, light still on and key still in ign.]
Sorry not sure what fuse is defog on a G2, should say on the fuse panel door/cover.:dozing: 94
helms says its fuse 17, 7.5A
ill check that out. but yeah my turnsignals/warningchimes/seatbelts all work so i guess it’s not the icu
<~ she, not he, FCM
“<~ she, not he, FCM” Sorry, not often that you see a woman giving advice and trying to help, much less know what she is talking about when it comes to cars. 94
PS. When I read it it doesn’t sound like it but it was meant as a complement.
Heh, don’t worry about it caboose did you check your wiring on the fogs? what happened?
well i just checked, it wasn’t the fuse…so looks like i gotta check the wiring
Then the first place to look is where you made the connection of the fog light switch power wire to the rear window defog switch power wire.
Also I recommend you change it, connect the fog light switches power wire to one of the free pins on the under dash fuse box, you can use the 2nd ign. free pin or the park light free pin.:whisper: 94
^^thats what I was saying, I assumed he had wired it to the fuse box already though…maybe not! lol I forgot some people still wire to the defrost
Im also having a problem with my Rear defogger and my INT. for my wipers dont work either my seat belt chimes work and if i leave my light on and shut off the car i get the chime too. So do you think its the ICU?
Yes, the ICU is the problem.:sipread: 94
Thankx fcm do you know how much the ICU runs and can I replace it myself?:hmm:
Yes you can replace it yourself, it is plugged in/mounted to the back of the under dash fuse box.
As for price, couldn’t tell you, I have paid as little as $10 CDN for a working used one from a bone yard.:shrug:94
foglight
can you better explain to me how do you rewire the foglights?
Starting your own tread would have been better then jacking this one.
The diff ways of rewiring the fogs has been gone over a 100 times, aSEARCH would have found you more then a few references to it.
However I am not a mod, just a nice Canadian guy eh, so I will explain in one more time.
IMO the best fog light rewire is done to the fuse box free pins, 2nd ign., [hot in run] or park light, [hot when park or head lights are on].
You must access the fog light switch harness, cut the red/yellow lead an inch or so from the plug, [that plugs into the switch], cap off the cut lead.
Now extend the red/yellow, coming from the plug, long enough to reach the under dash fuse box, use this type of connector… http://www.scosche.com/scosche_caraudio.aspx?CategoryID=90&ItemID=FDNR250-100 on the end of the extension to plug into the free pin, a 3A in-line fuse should be installed on the extension close to the fuse box, just to be on the safe side, the red/yellow only powers the “on” bulb in the switch and the fog light relay coil, [it is not the fuse for the fog lights.
Now pat yourself on the back and consider yourself lucky as this is the last time I will explain this.:tapfing:94
lol aight good looks
