Fogs draining battery why??

???

Going to need a lot more info, actually any info, like MM&Y of car, why you think it is the fogs that are draining the batt., exactly what happens and so on.

With what info, [or lack of] you have given all I can suggest is you turn them off and they will not drain the batt. :shrug:94

loose ground???.. loose contacts???.. wrong wiring???

ok the foglights fuse was out so i put a fuse in and it drained the battery.

I pulled the fuse n it stays charged.

my cars a 93 ls s

This would lead me to believe that you have a short in the wiring somewhere that is causing the battery to drain when there is power to the fogs from the fuse box.

It’s a long tedious process but your going to have to search the wires, start from one end and work your way back.

Option 2 is to disconnect and run new wires

Option 3 is to pull the fuse each time you get out of the car

Option 4 is to just leave the fuse out.

yea thats what i figured it would be

Well it is a pretty good bet that if it was a short to ground the fuse would blow, [that’s why there is a fuse], fuse 19 - 15A, [hot at all times] in under dash fuse box.

If it is a “short”, then it would be to another 12V+ circuit

That assumes you did not replace the stock 15A fuse with a bigger one.

I will also assume your not leaving the fog lights on.

So the question is why is it draining the batt.?

Do the fog lights work normally otherwise?

Have you done any kind of fog light rewire, [so they will work without the low beam head lights being on]?

Is there anything else in the car that is not working properly, like working without the ign. turned on, [when fog light fuse is in place]? :hmm:94

no everything is workin fine n there is no rewiring done. n it a 10A fuse not a 15A.

It is fuse 19 you are pulling, right?

My Haynes manual indicates the fog light fuse is fuse 19 and it is a 15A for both US and Canadian G2s, all years.

However, the fuse size, [smaller] is not going to change anything.

If fog lights work properly it eliminates the fog light relay being stuck on as the problem.

Do you have or can you borrow a multimeter, if so use it to see what the draw is. :corn:94
