Our head units are made by Pioneer. This video on this Pioneer unit shows a nearly identical cassette deck to ours.
I used it to figure out how to replace the tiny belts on the two motors shown around the 4-minute mark.
I had no idea this was fixable. So glad people are doing this!
Yup and if you have the right soldering gear, replacing any of the basic electronic components that go bad (like capacitors) seems pretty doable too, kinda just replacing in-kind.
Luckily these older boards have stuff you can still see to fix. Everything is still somewhat large in comparison to today’s printed circuit boards.
