uh oh… I installed an AEM Cold Air Intake a few weeks ago and i never reset the ECU… is that ok? can i still do it? what effect will it have if i do it now?
Also… how exactly do you do it? I have no clue when it comes to this stuff… If somebody could give me a detailed description of what to do, i would REALLY appreciate it… thanks guys!
ok thats good to hear. I Still want to do it though… i read through those instructions a while ago…but i have no idea which fuse to disconnect and where to disconnect it.
well, the fuse is in the underhood fuse box (just like the teg tips say), its a 7.5amp fuse (like the teg tips say). if you still can’t find it, there is a diagram on the inside of the fuse box which informs you which fuses are which. Just pull the fuse out… its really simple.
you can also just unhook the battery. but doing this sucks cause you’ll have to set your clock and radio presets again.
ooooh! that works too!! haha, i disconnected my battery before starting so i should be fine… i didnt wait for the car to warm up before i pressed the gas though… oh well.
if you didn’t wait to press the gas then you did it wrong, and need to do it again. doing what you did is actually worse than not resetting it at all.
most likely your car isn’t going to be very happy at idle now, it will fluctuate sometimes. until you decide to start the car, and let it warm up on its own.
I wait until my car’s engine is cold, i.e. hasn’t been driven for a good bit.
Then I disconnect the negative terminal on the battery.
Then I turn the key to “ACC” and leave it like that for a good 30 seconds… I turn on the interior lights and they shouldn’t turn on which means there is no power running in your system…
Then I take out the keys, put the terminal back on and start her up. I wait until the engine needle gets to the 1/2 way point (usually after about 10 mins in the summer, 20 mins in the winter) and then go for a boot…
Make sure you drive slow, fast, etc… mix it up a lot. Go through the entire RPM band and well… u get it
