freezing door latch?

So recently when it is really cold out my doors (coupe) dont want to latch when I close them. I can sit there and slam the door shut over and over and they just wont grab. When this happens the only way I can get them to shut is after the car is heated up and it is nice and toasty inside. Problem is the car doesnt like to warm up when it’s this cold unless I’m driving. It takes FOREVER when idling. So I end up having to drive while holding the door shut. So between shifting, holding the door shut, and having the seatbelt not retracted this is very dangerous. I need to fix my doors as soon as possible. My little brother and one of his friends both have DA’s also and neither of them has ever had this happen, so I don’t think this is a normal thing.

So any reason why they are freezing on me? Or a way to stop it from happening? For this to happen to me all the time and never once to my brother or his friend tells me something is not right.

Buy or borrow a can of aerosol white lithium grease. Apply to exposed parts of latching mechanism on side of car door. Let us know if that helps any.
