Fresh motor blowing white smoke?

B17 with B16 internals ¦¦ Stock ECU/Tune

Motor has about 500-600 miles since rebuild with NPS master overhaul kit but with OEM piston rings. It blows white smoke occasionally when I get up to speed (45mph) and when I shift gears. I’m real easy on my motor doing about 3-5 second pulls on the freeway at about 70% throttle. Whenever I get into VTEC I blow a cloud of smoke as well. Coolant stays the same and oil is fine.

I also throw a CEL when I’ve been driving for a little but as soon as I turn off my car it goes away. My idle drops and stays at about 500 rpm when this happens.

The CEL should stay in memory until you disconnect the battery…

Pull the CEL code and see what is being thrown. Always the first step in troubleshooting.

Valve seals?

Sounds like valve seals or the oem catch can thing isnt doing its job.

If the white smoke from exhaust is not come from leaking coolant and the oil is fine, problem may stay on other parts like cylinder head, head gasket or the engine is clogged or cracked. Inspect the intake gasket to firgure out the problem and fix it.
