Front Camber Settings

I am sending my car to the alignment shop for a ice / curb encounter. Currently my camber is set neutral at 0 deg with a 2" drop and ingalls kit.

I am not 100% satisfied with stearing response. What setting do you recommend for better handling but minimizing tire wear and not making the car too darty on the highway?

You may need to take the kit all the way out. Mine is maxed out at 3+" drop and its just inside -1degree camber, which is within spec.

For better steering responce, take off your P/S belt and put your battery in the back :D. I can not say enough about putting the battery in the trunk.

If you have your heart set on changing how easy it steers, you may want to have them adjust your Toe, not your camber. A slight positive Toe will make your car steer easier, however the more Toe you have the “Dartier” it will be on the freeway.

My suspension was all out of wack and I had a +4degree Toe. Not only did this eat a pair of tires to the core in 26 days, but I could not drive on the freeway with one hand, the car was that loose.

Got a quick question for you guys, Do you recomend a specific franchise shop to goto to get an alignment. I’m worried that a Tires Plus style shop woun’t beable to get my “low (4”)" car on their alignment rack.

I go to a local “performance” alignment shop. They specialize in race cars and exotics, so they understand camber kits and the like. They also balanced my wheels properly (both sides), unlike the local chain store that sent me off with bad vibrations.

Of course, I have to pay a bundle for their service. And this adds up each time I tweek my suspension (the receptionist laughs every time I call in and mention my name).

Anyway, all you can do is ask them if they can do it. Another idea is to see who the local Autocrossers (SCCA) use.
