how important is this mount? is it just a stabilizer or actual supporting mount? popped my hood to reattach my intake (yeah keep forgetting to put the damn hose clamp on) and just noticed i don’t have a front mount lol, owned the car for almost a year and never realized this, not sure how but oh well.
my moms CRV doesnt have one, but it has the threads in the block for one.
im assuming they put it there for more stabilization, most b series civics ive seen dont have one (no place on the subframe to mount one), but some traction bars have the option and ive seen them in that instance.
so to answer your questions, no. they arent important. it is just a stabilizer, three mounts hold motors in place just fine.
ok cool, i still think my other three are beat along with the rest of the bushings in the car, gonna replace them all and then see how she feels when i drive, i keep getting this weird vibration or jerking at about 75 if i barely let of the gas, its actually more pronounced through the gas pedal which really puzzles me, wondering if the motor is pulling on the throttle cable or something and thats why i feel it in the pedal more than i do in the car itself.
The front motor mount was put there for a reason. It is important… especially if your other mounts are toast… trust me.
I had an AN-R header on my car before and it didn’t clear the front x-member nor did it clear the front engine mount. I notched the x-member and removed the front mount and my header cracked on one of the primaries. There goes $600.
Now i’ve got a hytech header with a ETD racing traction bar. Never gonna make that same mistake again!
if your mounts are toast i wouldnt suggest risking it running no mount. i assumed your mounts were in good shape.
and thats contributed to the front mount? i guess it could of but seems to me that even with the mount its still going to flex the exhaust and move it around under load
If you’re using aftermarket mounts you can get away w/o your front mount, but I wouldn’t run w/o it if you’re using stock mounts - ESPECIALLY if they’re not brand new. It’s probably not going to damage anything, but it’s not ideal for the engine to have excess movement.
yeah these are most likely stock mounts the motor was swapped before i bought it, most likely didn’t bother putting it back in, i’ll see if i can find one cheap if not oh well, i may pick up some aftermarket mounts any way… maybe lol
the front mount is always dummied. i’m sure it makes for a smoother ride when it’s in and in good shape. you need the support for lateral movement
if your car is performance orientated the front mount in my opinion is very important since it’s a torque mount. say hello to wheel hop if you don’t have it. other b series engine’s have two extra front mounts which is why they don’t have the front mount like the second gen integra does.
If you are really curious as to the importance of your front mount pull your hood and drive around the block. Once you’re up to about 4K RPMs in 3rd gear downshift in to 2nd and watch what the motor does. If you have a stiff enough of rear mount you shouldn’t see much, 1/2" movement is pretty acceptable, if your motor drops out of your view you’ll need to make some changes…
