I just bought new tires for my 1990 LS and I wanted to test them out in the rain. I steped on the brakes hard, the good thing is they did not slip, but it made a horrible screetch that was not from the tires slipping on the road. Uppon further inspection I see the when I step on the brakes hard the WHOLE passenger side wheel moves Backward and Hits the Fender!? This CANT be good, Whats going on here. The drivers side only moves a little, and looks normal.
I’m assuming that you’re talking stock tire sizes for the Integra (195/60/14). In any case, the wheel shouldn’t move front or backwards at any time. Inspect steering and suspension components (axles, tie-rods, bearings, control arm, struts/shocks, etc.). If you are able to move the wheel backwards during breaking, then you should be able to do it by hand with the wheels off the ground.
Yes they are stock tire sizes and the passenger side wheel does look a little further back when parked. Im going to get it put up on a lift, what should I have looked at? What do you think the problem is.
Try checking out your strut rod bushing I think is what it is called. It’s a bar that connects from your lower control arm to your x-member up front. Just look at you lower control arm and you will see a bar that goes towards the front of the car. Follow that ( you might have to take some of the plastic off up front) and there is a nut with a bushing that is “suppose” to be there. If you just see a bar with no nut sticking out then thats what it is. That same prob happened to me… freaked me out everytime I was braking hard. But check that out. Its an easy fix if you can find the bushing. I paid like 2 bux for one at the junk yard… fixed it myself in like 5 min… Good luck and HTH
Holla if you need anything!
