hi guys i have a 90 integra and all of a sudden my car started squeaking constantly. it sounds like its coming from my front passenger side. so i started to look into it and its driven me friggin crazy. when i push up and down on the car it squeaks and when im driving it sqeaks all the time every 2 seconds and its LOUD it sounds like someone on a swing set high pitched sqeak. i checked…
my upper control arm and greased it
i think the ball joints are fine
shocks seem good
springs seem fine
sway bar bushing looks good
tie rod looks greased
well it sounds like its sqeaking down near the steering rack/sway bar/rear engine mount but its so loud its hard to pinpoint and the only way to make it happen is to push it up and down while its on the ground and i cant get under the car at the same time lol its like 3in off the ground
sorry for any confusion but i hope you guys can help ive spent hours and hours on finding the problem but im friggin stumped ugh
usually thats the upper control arm bushings. 95% of the time it’s that. the other 5% can be any other bushing/tie rod/balljoint. if you really want to pinpoint the squeek the best way is to get in there with a stethoscope.
Yea I got a stethoscope but its not helping much. The sound is so hard to pinpoint because it friggin echos in the engine bay. I checked, took apart and greased the upper control arm and it still squeaks. It really sounds like its in the middle like where the steering rack, rear engine mount area but when I use the stethoscope I can’t find it. Wtfi thought it was my inner tie rod cause the boot ripped and the grease was washed out but I opened it up and used heavy duty bearing grease and coated that bitch lol idk…thanks
my car does it on the drivers side all the time when i drive. it got worse when i put in the ingalls camber kit in but i deal with it it is the upper control arm bushing most likely. raise the car take the wheel off and move the front suspension around. itll be easy to pin point it like this. IDK how to go about fixing it though because i tried grease and wd40 so who knows
if you don’t have grease nipples on the upper or lower balljoints, try jacking up the car and shooting some lubricant into the balljoint boot. try and get it right inside and work it in. do the upper first. drive it. see if it goes away. if not, do the the lower and see if that does it. if it goes away, you know which one to change.
about 80% of the time, this problem is caused by a dry upper or lower balljoint. or tie rod end
spray wd40 on the suspension bushings and when it stops squeaking you found the problem…easy! if it doesnt help try having someone push on the car with you under it but push lightly so you dont hurt yourself. or put the front of the car on jacks and push up on the wheel to see if it makes a squeak. this should help if not replace all the bushings in the front, this should cost around $100 bucks for the energysuspension kit thats what i did and it worked. let me know
Did you find out the problem yet? If you have ABS, my bet is it’s your ABS power unit. It’s located in the engine bay underneath your battery, along the frame rail. Don’t know what causes it but I had the same problem on my 91 GS. Squeals uber loud and comes in and off at random. I can almost guarantee it has something to do with This.
Agree that ABS System pressure get going and if it doesn’t work. It will sound annoying like hell, people would turn to look at my car while I was at the stop sign. I disconnected the ABS ECU, located in the rear of back panel…
