I just placed my baby on craigslist here in Madison after trying my best to keep it in mothballs until better days I thought I would mention the car here since here there are others here just as nutty about these DB2ās as I have been the last decade plus.
My now dead little Brother found this Frost White DB2 for me back in 2003 after I had been looking for one for two years. I still have his '90 Civic Si that I found for him back in 1998 sitting in mothballs to remember him by. Even though I had always promised myself that I would NEVER sell this DB2, his Civic is now more important to me, and one of them has to goā¦
My old Integra GSR does need work, and I will do my best to point all that out here. I stopped driving the car back in 2008 when the fuel tank began to leak when 3/4 or more full. A local shop had just installed a replacement steering rack incorrectly, and that was my breaking point, I just stopped driving the car. My Brother died a few weeks later and my Integra has not been driven since then in 2008. It has only been started a half dozen times since then, and the motor starts and runs perfect. It does NOT burn oil or leak a thing. I left the engine bay uncleaned so you can see I am NOT hiding any recent work or leaks. The motor does need a timing belt/waterpump/tentioner ASAP!
The chassis has 222k, and the King Motorsports assembled B18C5 has 69k on it. It has a Mugen āGymkahnaā Spec Exhaust Manifold, but the bottom has been dented a bit. I have all King Motorsports receipts totaling over $9000 for the engine work! The Title is Clear!
I had the motor swap done at King Motorsports back in 2004. I had purchased a brand new, 0 mile B18C5 shortblock from Honda of America, and was having King do an all out head package/camshafts on my B17A1 cylinder headā¦ But there was a problem, during the porting of my B17 head a unrepairable crack was discoveredā¦ And I had already received my B18C5 short block without headā¦ Scott Zelner, the CEO of King Motorsports stepped up and sold me his personal Type-R cylinder head from his own vehicle because I was without a head. That is the cylinder head that is on this Integra.
Because of the extra expense, and other issues going on in life I had to pass up the planned camshafts. I even had to reuse my B17 Intake manifold and throttle body. I had plans on doing the manifold and cams in the future, but you know how things go. Even with the B17 intake manifold/throttle body this motor runs Strong! Its compression ratio has been bumped up from the factory 10.6:1 to 11.6:1 because I had planned on camshafts(it has '01 spec ITR cams in it currently that have been degreed by King) The Guys at King claimed that this car had āKiller Midrangeā and āWould crush a stock Type-Rāā¦ Because of the smaller Intake manifold/throttle body it only makes power to 8700, although I am told it will make power to 9100 with the ITR intake manifold and bored throttle body. King said this motor only needs valve springs/retainers and cams to safely turn 9500rpm all day long!
The chassis has rust! Mostly the wheel wells, but now some surface rust has come up at the bottom of the passenger door and the fuel door. There is now surface rust where the spoiler mounts to the rear hatch. Under the car is clean, solid, and straight! This car was a one owner car when I bought it in 2003, and the owner was a Acura dealer! He knew how to drive and kept the transmission in perfect shape! I have never had such a perfect shifting Honda transmission, and I have been driving Hondas for 17+ Years! No stupid person has ever driven this car!
A quick list of needed workā¦
- Timing belt/water pump/tentioner
- Motor mountsā¦ In 2004 no DA(DB2)aftermarket mounts were available so I used new factory mountsā¦ This motor runs STRONG, and it destroys stock mounts in no time! Aftermarket performance mounts will be required!
- Axlesā¦ A local shop put on cheapo LS axles in '08ā¦LS axles do not have ABS notches, so the ABS does not work! Better axles should be used
- Steering rackā¦ That same local shop(NOT KING!) installed a replacemant steering rack in '08 but the rack was not installed correctly and the Momo steering wheel is not straight. That is when I stopped driving the car. The rack should be fine, it just needs to be removed are reinstalled.
- Fuel Tank! It began to leak when 3/4 full back in '08 when I stopped driving it.
- Springs/shocksā¦ It has 16yr old Eibachs with 16yr old Tokico Illumina adjustables, and they are very tired! New springs/shocks would help.
- Tires. It sits on steel wheels with bald snow tires, and it comes with '01 Integra LS wheels with blad Potenza Pole Potitions.
- Body work/Paint! This one deserves it! Hopefully those entire replacement rear quarter panels are still available, again this one deserves it!
Also the car comes with the original B17A1 shortblock w/153k on it. It would need a full rebuild, but the sought after B17A1 crank/rods are all there.
Questions, comments, advise, let me knowā¦ I will try to have photos showing the wheel well rust and engine bay shortly.
