question-
I am changing my fuel filter, and I have been told I need to disconnect the fuel relay to do this, and to prevent making a mess. I have a Haynes manual, and there is a picture in there, but I have no idea where the relay is actually located. If anybody can help me out…
Never disconnected the fuel relay on any car that I’ve changed the fuel filter on. Just make sure the key is “off” and that you’ve removed the gas cap to relieve any pressure on the fuel lines.
re: fuel relay
they say to properly relieve fuel press. you must remove the fuel relay and the run the car till it dies. however the relay i think you mean is yhe pgfi relay (programed fuel injection) it is the big relay under the drvr side kick panel next to the steering colmm. but if you remove this it wont start at all. so do like the last guy said and just open gas cap and remove the nuts to the filter. just keep plenty of rags hany to catch spilling gas. also my line nuts were so tight they striped out when i removed mine so i took the stock filter out and cut the lines and put in a larger holley filter. it’s nice with the red cnc alumn. and i mounted it in the same spot as the old one.
