k when i’m drivin’ (obviously not when i’m sittin still) i get the noise like a flat tire, a kind of fwop fwop fwop fwop that speeds up as i speed up. my tires are fine though, so i know it’s not that. they’re not leaking or anything. i’m bone stock mods-wise, and just replaced my tranny not too long ago. today was the first day i’ve noticed the noise. i did a search on wheel bearings and it seemed that they make a screeching sound as opposed to a fwopitty fwop fwop noise like i’m getting, and i haven’t had a chance to check for bad wheel bearings yet. any and all help is appreciated!!

that would mean no i haven’t TAKEN (correct personal past tense) the wheel off yet. it’s dark outside, and it’s also about 10 degrees farenheit. i may have a chance to inspect it indoors tomorrow, i’ll keep y’all posted. HELP IS STILL A GOOD THING UNTIL THEN

i’ll be checking the cosmetic stuff tomorrow (today? golly it’s 4 a.m.) because right now it’s too dark, too cold, and there’s icky stuff all over the parking lot and i’ll have it in a garage tomorrow afternoon (this afternoon? golly it’s still 4 a.m.).
as for something wrong with/inside the tranny, i’ve had it for well over a month now, i would think that it would have presented itself before now. i don’t have any other problems, and when i hit the brakes it goes away. also before we installed the new tranny dad and i took the old casing off and hit the internals with a blast of industrial solvent sink just to make sure it was all clean and happy; we also did a thorough visual inspection to make sure that everything was in spec and nothing was “out of whack” (another dealership tech term straight from Gary at Honda of Ames).
driver’s side wheel was loose. apparently, after talking with my friend Jeremy (2001 WRX–full ride scholarship from out of state = parents will buy you a really nice car because they just saved over $100k in tuition) he had fallen victim to a prankster who had loosened 4 of his 5 lug nuts on his front wheels. they’d done the same to me, loosened 3 of 4 lugs on my front driver’s wheel.
so yeah…i’m a lil pissed that someone would violate me like that, but at the same time i’m thankful because i have (sarcasm) more than $50 worth of stereo equipment in my car
so yeah…no harm done really…nothing broke, nobody got hurt. just a little fwoppity annoyance…
