And the finished product…

just curious? how long did it take? and what shocks or springs are you using? When my friend put on his 1.5in drop springs, his car was running reallyl really low even though he had 18 in rims. If i use the 1.5 in springs while using my stock rims, would it go even lower?

Thanks,
Brandon

It took us a while, but we stood around and talked alot also. As for the springs, they are H&R, and are suposed to be 1.8 inches worth of drop. If the springs that you have are for 1.5, then you should be fine.

Your hubcaps ROCK!

  FINALLY!!! Somebody who appreciates hub caps and steelies!

looks good! good job

give it a few days to settle its gonna get lower!!!

Hey Pete, it was a fun day in the garage. I always like having some of the members over for my garage days.

We actually got quite a bit accomplished today too. I rebuilt Tom’s (Tchleung) tranny early this morning, or I guess you could call it last night, hehe.
Tom will post up some horrific pics of what his bearings looked like in there. We caught that one just before it was too late.

We got the Axle in Andy’s GTI done so that him and Tom could get back to the boonies of Penticton, BC.
We also got to get Ben’s clutch cable relocated along with some shiny new MSD wires, courtesy of me

A few other things got accomplished here and there, including pulling my mangled ass car out of the garage to make room for another car to work on. That hurt too. It doesnt like to be moved anymore.

I had fun in Dave’s car too. That is the cleanest running, best tuned boosted setup I have ever had the opportunity to ride in.
For anyone who hasent seen and got to ride in that car. It is awesome. I couldnt believe how well it runs.

All in all, it was a really good day and I am glad that everyone who made it was able to come. This is the first garage day that I have held where everyone who made it had never been to a garage day before.
I will set up another one sooner or later. Probably when Dave gets his new fuel pump.

It was definately good getting to see some of the guys I dont get to see often like Ben and Dave.
It was also really cool meeting Tom and Andy. You guys are really cool and welcome at my house anytime you come through Seattle.

Anytime. That is why I do these garage days. Hook up the people who I think could use a little help and have a good time while doing the work.
This wasnt the first time your car has been in my garage for some work and I am sure it wont be the last. I got to admit that this time was a lot easier than last time.

I think today was the best garage day I have ever had because I wasnt the only one who knew how to do all the work and there was a really good turnout. Just about everyone there knew how to do what needed to be done and it was a lot of fun being more of a supervisor than a mechanic for that short while. Things went smoothly for the most part. Cant say that the GTI went smoothly since that axle was a bitch, but the guys at Les Schwab were cool enough to break that spindle nut loose for free and Andy on his way.

looking good!

Ummm…Don’t think I will ever own a set of spinners! Especially for a G2.

Hey. yeah your coar looks good now taht it is lwoered. not like it didn’t look good before, it is a G2 afterall  but it was a godo time. wans’t expecting a garage day and meeting the few that Iv’e spoken to like Ben Ogle and Dave and the reest(I forget who is who… all I rememebr was who dave/ben was. can’t forget Jason. but if you all acutally tried, you could had it done in NO time… BR, looks like yuo did rebuild my tranny and lower phrailes car before Andy could finish the axle hahaha. I will post up pics of that bearing etc soon.

Hey Tom, it was a pleasure having you and Andy over here for those couple days. You are a cool guy and Andy is a good guy too, even though he drives a VW. Make sure he gets a honda soon  It was a lot of fun hanging out with you guys while you were in town and like I said before. If your every coming through Seattle just let me know and I will hook you up with a place to stay again. The couch is always open for you.

Sure, I did rebuild your tranny and we (emphasis on we, not me) got Pete’s car lowered in less time than it took Andy to get that axle done, but it is a VW after all

Have you put your tranny back on yet?? I cant remember if I put that 5th gear synchro in the right way now that I think about it…

just kidding

Hey, I had a lot of fun at that garage day thing. I wish I lived closer but oh well. It was good to meet/see all of you guys. I have 2 pics but they are just of the people, not any work being done. If you guys dont mind I’ll post them later (if you do mind thats cool as I dont want my pic on here).

Jason, I am paypaling you right now for the wires.

Ben

Edit: I edited the orig post with labels cause i’m a dork like that.

Ben

It was cool having you over too Ben. Not often that you get to make it over here for any events, and you just happened to be in town for this one.
You are welcome to any of the garage days that I hold. If you are in town and want to wrench just let me know in advance and I will set one up and get the crew over for the day.

I gotta admit that a garage day just isnt the same without Rob (dumbluck) sitting in his folding chair drinking beer…
