G2IC.. it's been a while. Another one bites the dust :(

This happened this past summer sometime in July. Lady was turning left and hit me while I was going through an intersection. Car was written off :frowning:

Here she was in her prime:

This is the new car:

I’m a photographer and I do a lot of rock climbing, camping and road trips so the element really suits my lifestyle.

There will always be a place in my heart for g2’s and g2ic. I miss her so much…

Sorry to hear that man. I’ve always really liked your car. No plans to get another DA?

Oh no, thats horrible man. Plans for the element? :stuck_out_tongue:

rollinmyda: Thanks. No plans at the moment. I just bought a condo in Vancouver so I’m kinda poor at the moment… condo living doesn’t really go very well with building project cars unfortunately.

Charly: Plans? Tons! I’m doing a road trip to Bishop, California at the end of this month do do some climbing/camping. After that… nothing much. Might just get a set of SC rims and throw some summers on there.

This is unfortunate. At least the rest of the car is salvageable. What are you going to do with it?

I got $1400 for it from insurance, then sold the salvaged body to a buddy. He’s going to put the engine, seat, and some suspension into his db2 then sell the rest

Nice nice. Sounds like fun.

But the optional lip looks to be okay?-!

Damn sorry to hear. Car is looking sweet in the pics.

Bummer, your car was a beauty. At least its getting parted and your friend is getting parts. I’d hate to see it go to the crusher with all those parts on there…

I’m sorry to see that. It sucks! I am always fearful that something will happen to my db2. Will your buddy post on here when he decides to part out the shell?

I like the new whip, and the idea of the SC wheels…

But damn what a heartbreaker. I have always liked this car… Sorry for the loss man.

:salute:

too bad man,it was a very nice ride. BC living is expensive.

Rip :frowning:

Nooooo… that sucks. But good thing you found something that suits you.

Wow David, I’m so sorry about your accident. I thought you were going to keep that thing forever! It looks just as good in pictures as it did in person. On the brighter side, I’m happy to see you picked up an Element. It totally suits your lifestyle and you’ll put that thing to use without a doubt.

Kinda sucks that such a minor amount of damage will total a car these days. Granted they are not worth as much anymore, but when you look at the labor costs provided by ā€œRichard’sā€ (the firm that dictates how much it costs to do body work) it adds up to A LOT of money. For example, Richard’s dictates that it takes 1.5 hours to remove our front bumper. Anyone here who has done it before, knows that it takes maybe 10 minutes. At $75/hr … you do the math.

It’s ridiculous.

That does suck. I wonder if anyone has gotten classic insurance under Hagerty or Grundy etc yet. That would eventually solve this issue as you name your price/investment and they appraise the car and insurance based on that value.

Quite ridiculous!

The damage doesn’t look too bad in the photo, but it was actually quite bad. Rad support and rebar were toast. There was also quite a bit of frame damage on the driver side fender… once i saw that, i knew it was done for :frowning:
