Gapping spark plugs

Hello,

I recently bought a 91 Teggy with a B18a1 engine, with a GSR tranny. When I’m in 5th gear around 70, the gear “spits” as if it’s misfiring. The previous owner said that it’s not a problem, that the spark plugs need to be gapped. Again, it only happens when I’m in the higher speeds. How do I gap the spark plugs? Thank you.

you will need a feeler gauge to measure the gap

Doubtful that the gap is your problem. Obviously you should check, but I wouldn’t get my hopes up. Every time I’ve ever bought spark plugs for a B series engine they have been in spec or close enough right out of the box.

Yeah just pop out the plugs and take a look. I mean it’s cheap to replace anyway to remove it from the equation as it being the problem.

I replaced the spark plugs and I still get a random misfire while driving. Could it be the O2 sensor going? I’m going to change the rotor and cap soon.

Some use feeler gauges and some use that quarter looking thing that usually hangs at the register at advance and auto zone.

But yea, the ngks are 99% of the time fine out the box.
